With out following links, I don't know how much of that is urban legend. I do know that Coke works very well for cleaning the battery terminals in my car. I've been using it many years for that purpose.
All carbonated sodas rob your body of calcium. I can't remember clearly what it was that caused this. It is something I learned when I got obsessed with body building and healthy eating. (an obsession that I conquered long ago

W3RD. All of that Coke stuff is COMPLETELY bogus. I encourage you to put a steak in a bowl of coke for 2 days and see that it will, if anything, PRESERVE the steak and MARINATE it. Some of that water stuff is indeed true. I've expirienced dehydration second-hand. Here's my tale.

OK, so every year over the summer I go to this "AWANA scholarship camp" which is a Christian camp where we learn stuff, eat camp food, and have a heck of a good time. Last year was the worst. Wednesday. We're in the eating hall and the camp director welcomes back our old missionary from a couple years ago. We all start clapping and stuff and BOOM power's dead. The island where the camp we stay is a lot more dependent on electricity than I previously thought. OK, so they've got a broken generator and have to go out and get another one just to keep the cafeteria working and the food safe. Not a big deal. Unfortunately, I later learn that the island runs on a well pump and that we would not have running water while the power was out. OUCH. (The island is on the Delaware river) so we have to get buckets of water to flush the toilets and such and things are very miserable. Anyway, this is the history.

Our old missionary told us to drink plenty of water because it was very hot during the day. Thursday night it was raining heavily and we were all safely dry inside the pavilion when things went wrong. We were singing songs and such when all of a sudden one of our friend's didn't feel very good. He's a very nice guy and also a very tough guy, and when I saw the look on his face and saw him when he wasn't feeling good, I knew something was terribly wrong. Also, this other girl didn't feel right. Basically, they felt very cold and were shivering uncontrollably. Also, they felt sick to their stomachs and I think one or two of them threw up. Anyway, more and more of them were all of a sudden expiriencing these symptoms and were becoming sick. We had to go back to our cabins and wait. Those who were sick (around 14) went to the eating hall and waited for the hosptial to get there. It was a bad night. There were ambulances going in and out all night. The cause? Dehydration.

Drink lots of water.

soda's just plain bad. thinking about the ingredient list makes me shudder. So do all carbonated sodas steal your calcium? I though it was caffeine that did it. maybe both. Anyway, i like my bones, i will try to keep as much of them as possible. smoking also takes calcium away, i have been cutting back tremendously this past two weeks.

WATER: The real, real thing.

I'd like to read something comparing gatorade to coke. In fact, I may go google that right now. I hate pure water; it occasionally gives my stomach a temporary pain and it just tastes horrible. Now gatorade, that's something I can drink and enjoy.
