EDIT: Locking the bitrate on the Echo Indigo seems to have worked. Thanks guys!

Hello all,
I'm sure this has come up a couple of times (I did do a search, found a couple of threads where it was mentioned but never resolved), but does anyone know of a fix for Foobar speeding up audio playback sometimes when a link is clicked on or a program started?

It doesn't always speed up, but it does do it fairly often. It is an annoyance. I think that it is only Foobar, as jetaudio doesn't do it (though that program has its own problems), nor does winamp. I haven't tried it with any other media players though (all my stuffs in FLAC, I've found that that makes the list of media players rather limited at least in my experience).

Does anyone know of an appropriate fix for this? Thanks.

Crazy! what are u using to playback the audio? DirectSound? DS 2.0? waveOut? try the different ones. ASIO or kernal streaming is good. ASIO fixed a bunch of CPS load related issues for me.

If u have no luck and can't find anything else, try emailing the ppl who make foobar

I sort of had this problem before. It would only speed up one random mp3 from time to time. And it wouldn't play it back normally until I rebooted. But it only happened to the ONE random mp3, and happened only once every few months.

I am rather computer illiterate. I know I'm using foobar, running it through a Echo Indigo DJ line-out. I also know that my computer is an Asus Z70V notebook. That's about all I know. What is DirectSound, DS 2.0, waveOut? Please explain. Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

That explains. Go to Echo console and lock the bitrate to what you currently use in foobar.

Disabling mapping through audio device wouldn't hurt either.
Check "Do not map through this device" in control panel/audio device properties.

Well, I just had this exact same problem so thanks for the replys on this thread. Locking the bitrate on the DJ fixed it right up. Before, listening through the line out (but not the headphone out, there was never a problem with that) my music would speed up to Alvin and the Chipmunks anytime I changed the webpage or even took my USB mouse out of the USB slot. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers first, but it still happened so thats when i did a search and this thread came up.
So Thanks!
