So... I was wondering if any of you knew of any wrappers/plug-ins for Foobar that would add relatively convincing virtual surround sound to 2 or 2.1 speaker setups that's not hardware dependent? I know there are a number of sound cards that provide virtual surround sound through Dolby Virtual Speaker, but I'm looking for something that won't require additional hardware.

This doesn't seem impossible to me, after all, there's a Dolby Headphone surround sound wrapper for Foobar, and there's even a thread here that offers a guide for integrating Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker in Media Player Classic or Zoom Player with the Cyberlink audio codec.

Currently for my 2 speaker setup at work I'm running Free Surround and Dolby Headphone DSPs to sort of emulate some sort of virtual surround sound, and though its not perfect, it sounds surprisingly decent. Just wondering if anyone else out there has experimented or found any other ways to get this sound effect through only software.

Thanks.
