hmm, I'm feeling kind of stupid. Just got my art di/o hooked up but i have no idea how to get it working with foobar and my m-audio revo. Using it on my nec cd-rom tho it sounds noticeable better than the rca outs (so far took out tube and using the atari power supply). I tried changing the output on foobar into kernalstreaming, but that just gives me errors anytime i play a file. Think anyone can help me out here?

in foobar2000, in playback settings, try output data format 24 bit padded to 32bit. also dont' forget to change your revo control panel setting output to digital out. this soundcard doesn't output digital and analogue at same time so you have to choose.

yay, it's working nicely now. Had to reboot the comp to switch into digital mode properly. The sound improvement is very noticeable, but I haven't really done intensive listening with it so I can't really say much. But if you wanna know whether it was worth the $130, I can comfortably say yes.

That's strange you had to reboot to get into digital mode. I never had that happen to me. Well glad to see it's working out well for you.

Are you using stock power supply? It will sound better with a better power supply.

I guess that's all I really needed to hear. After upgrading to the Revo, I though "how much better could this really get," but at least now I know there's more out there to be heard. Looks like time for a new project

I mentioned above that I'm using the 3.4amp atari one that's been recommended from audioasylum and here.

Thanks a lot. After doing a bunch of reading there, I came to the conclusion that the Boulder MENSA DI/O really has all the most important tweaks, but at quite a price premium, $260. I just wonder if my relatively pathetic soldering abilities would be up to the challenge of DIYing it. Seems to me that for ~$400 a Channel Islands DAC would be better, but of course I have no real evidence to go off of. But I don't have $400, so I guess I'll just get the ART and one of those 3.4 amp supplies, and do the rest slowly over time.
