I downloaded foobar and I'm looking to learn how to install the ACAL expansion so I can convert my .flac to apple lossless. I know you have to unzip the expansion - but to where? PLEASE HELP!

you mean the ALAC extension? just unzip it to the foobar2000/components directory.

Foobar2000's ALAC (not ACAL) components are for ALAC playback (decoding) only, not encoding.
You should be able to convert using dbpoweramp though.

is dbpoweramp a plugin for foobar? I need a converter from FLAC to ALAC as well for my Test CD.

dbpoweramp is a standalone app for multiple format conversion, not a plugin. it's not free but totally worth it.

No OS mentioned, so here are three alternatives:
* Max from sbooth.org
* dBpoweramp: CD Ripper & Audio Converter.
* Fluke: iFLAC your Mac + iTunes
