Hi All

I am after a set of (preferably) closed, over/on ear headphones. They are needed for travel and i'd like them smallish or folding to ease this. Around $150US would be ballpark

I like the look of the the Bose OE model, but they're Bose, so i'm obviously hesitant.

Anything you guys can recommend?

Matt

The following are all within your budget -- some slightly above, some well below --and I like them all:

MDR-V6 (collapsible)
ATH-M50 (foldable and collapsible)
HFI-780 (foldable and collapsible)
SRH440 (collapsible)
HD280pro (foldable and collapsible)

PX100 would probably be the most minimal portable ones you can get. In their folded state, they're almost as small as folded up pair of sunglasses... only thing is that they're semi-open and won't do the best with isolation. Their closed counterpart is PX200, but they don't sound as good from what I've heard... but may still be worth checking out.

If you can tolerate bigger, then look into ones in priest's list.

I'm actually a big fan of my Equation RP-15MC that are foldable and collapsible. If you take the covers off the drivers (they still have a cover from the ear cushions), you lose the muffled feeling and they are overall a very balanced pair of headphones, especially for the price.

don't you mean it the other way around?
It isolates well but isn't that comfortable

No, that was the right way.

On an airplane, there was still WAY too much noise.

But right now, I have the K81 pads on the MS1 (as a basshead mod). Cut out some cardboard (from a cereal box), tape/glue, and voila! It works quite well, because of the little clamping force. In fact, it's more comfortable than 1/4 modded comfies
