Focal Utopia General Discussion

Both pads and driver size looks same as before, old Utopia has somewhat extended treble so surprised if new manages to pull noticeably more soundstage. Guessing less treble and more bass for new version but time will tell.
a potential change to the driver is what interests me - specifically an increase in size. guess we'll know soon enough or not soon enough judging by the heightened activity in this thread.

The side by side (mirrored R->L) comparison is quite hypnotic

like a “spot the differences” game

The OG is better looking for sure.
Still the Lemo connectors...

Agreed... I prefer the carbon fiber pattern on the original and also don't really like the honeycomb pattern. As far as soundstage goes, I actually quite like the intimacy of the OG. It compliments my HD800s quite well 🤷‍♂️
Agree, I find the combination of Utopia and HD800 (OG in my case) to be very complementary even if both have many similar qualities.

I personally have found Focal‘s updated headphones like the Clear Mg, Radiance, and Celestee were a step backwards or underwhelming and I suspect the new Utopia will be a false flag for early buyers.

I never owned the original Utopia, but I really love this new design. Looks nice and sleek. I do have the Clear MG Pro, which it seems this new version borrows some design elements from.
That being said, I probably will not get this, the Clear MG is plenty resolving enough for me and I like the warmer sound. Unless this is a warmer and smoother Utopia, in which case I will at least have to audition it.

I'm honestly hoping it has the same sound signature as the OG but bigger soundstage and slightly more sub bass
