iamoneagain, well I wish I had a DAVE to not miss like you do, but I’m beginning to settle in with my HMS/TT2 combo. Us poor folks will just have to make do. Lol
Believe me you are far from poor if you can afford HMS/TT2 combo

Even telling people I paid $1500 for a headphone amp sounds crazy to them. Only told my wife how much I paid for the Dave and mscaler after I sold it. She thought the Hugo 2 was only worth $500 based off its size.

The Danacable has been shipped back for the XLR connection and I can easily tell the difference with from the original stock cable. Stock still sounds very good but I already miss the Danacable. Not quite as engaging without it. Think I’m spoiled.

So miss Danacable much more than I miss the Dave/mscaler. But wouldn’t believe this if someone else told me that.

Please can I ask @iamoneagain what "stock cable" you are using?

Think it was the 2nd version 9’ one. Not the new package or the very first extra long one.

Don’t get me wrong, stock still sounds good but Danacable adds something to the tone that I really like. It’s much richer. some may find this too colored sounding but I like it a lot.

That is the one I prefer and am using, I may have to investigate the Danacable, I wonder if they have a UK supplier.

I think the’ye just a very small operation out of Colorado. Feel free to email them. I’ve also seen them come up in the for sale section but it’s pretty rare.

Also, I can’t speak for how it compares to any other after market cables. This is only one I tried. Only complaint would be how thick it is but I’m sure that’s part of what makes the magic happen.

When I asked Rob Watts about his advised upgrade path from the Hugo 2 (TT2 vs Mscaler), replied that the latter is the bigger upgrade.

Am I the only one who thinks .... that asking a manufacturer/producer for the best upgrade option, they will naturally recommend the product with the highest profit margin?

You guys are making it hard for me to go the cheaper route with Moon Black Dragon instead of the Lazuli Reference :gs1000smile:

@Hoegaardener70 not at all, but I do think that upgrade path makes sense technically considering what the HMS adds.

What? $3500USD? Tell me about this cable. .... it’s been a while since I’ve read your posts. Hope all is well.

I've been using my Utopia with my Hugo 2 for the last ~2.5 years and it's been a great pairing, and doubles as a "transportable" setup for when I have enough time in the office and off the production floor to enjoy them.

I've only recently gotten the itch to either upgrade to TT2 or add a decent tube amp for the less than stellar recordings I enjoy. It's mostly just money burning a hole in my pocket as I save for a house though.

IDK, a house is a good thing. Tough call! How’s things? Staying well?
