I have two Utopias (one with standard pads, one with clear pads) and therefore need two headphone cables for the Utopias. One is a Moon Black Dragon Premium cable, the other is a Danacable Lazuli Reference, which I was very lucky to buy in good used condition a few weeks ago. Both sound considerably better than the standard cable, imho. Both are much more resolving and offer better dynamics than the stock cable, without sounding too analytical or even harsh. Their tonality is very similar. The Black Dragon has just a bit more emphasis on the upper mids / lower treble, but this is rather subtle. The Lazuli Reference is the most expensive, but also the best headphone cable that I ever owned. What does it better compared to the Black Dragon? The Lazuli Reference offers the larger soundstage (deeper, more 3D like), its bass digs a bit deeper (compared to a slight mid-bass emphasis of the Black Dragon) and sounds more laid-back, without being too laid-back. The synergy of this cable with the Utopia (and Chord Dave) is amazing. There is absolutely nothing with this cable that I would like to be different. With Chord Dave and Utopia, the Lazuli Reference is definitely worth its price, imo. With the Hugo 2 it is a much closer call, imo. I personally would not spend for a cable half of the amount that your DAC/Amp costs. There may well be a better use for this amount now or in the future. Maybe start saving for Dave or Blu2? But in this case you would need the Lazuli anyway. So, if you want to have the absolute best cable, the Lazuli Reference is it. If you should afford is a different story. Hope that helps.

LOL, I actually currently have 2x Utopia and 2x 009. Gonna finally sell some gear and get this better under control. But will probably keep the 2x Utopias -- my girlfriend actually likes to listen to headphones with me (most girls are revolted by the idea of headphone listening in tandem). Sometimes it's nice for us to give the 2ch rig a break and experience the high-end headphones' perspective on music.

Curious, why two pair of Utopia's?

One with Utopia pads, the other with Clear pads.

I thought that it is worth (for me) having two pairs of the best headphone (for me) on the planet, with different sound signatures

^^^When you just post something for sale with no thorough explanation of how these cables affect the sound or why we should even consider it an option *just somewhere to make a sale* The more I use this site the more I see how this is just a dump to “make a sale”.

personally i REALLY find that this site and this forum has become a merchandising spot for a dealer to be really off putting...literally half of the commentary here comes from one dealer.....I personally have zero against the dealer or the individuals involved I just think this is really improper

So this is how you respond to your potential customer. Obviously I can afford it if I have a pair of Utopia’s but that’s besides the point. I’m thinking if we can’t post/advertise about selling our own personal items In this section why do you get to sell/advertise directly to us in the forum section.

I actually think it is a discussion for the forum not a private e-mail....again,I have no personal animus...I am on this site for years and peruse numerous forums and this is the only one where the discussion is dominated by a dealer of the product who promotes his business and products...obviously if others do not mind so be it.....perhaps a separate forum for the dealer would be the answer?

Your first misunderstanding would be present in your most recent post. We are not allowed to discuss as sponsors brands we do not sell. It doesn’t matter if what we say is positive or negative. It is not an option for a sponsor.

Start a thread I’ll join in the discussion. Doing it here is impolite to those that disagree or feel indifferent.
