How that compares to the SR009?

Way too early to tell. Actually I've only had one night with my Utopias since getting them. Went to the baseball game yesterday (Go Jays Go!!!) and today my son played a double header (and we won the league championship!). Just sitting down right now and gotta say the Utopia's are deserving of their initial hype. These headphones are the real deal. But I'd like to really burn them in a bit and get to know them better.

Can anyone kindly compare the Utopia with LCD4? As im holding the LCD4 and planing to get a Utopia and keep both headphone to be my daily/office headphone.

Does the GSX Mk2 a good choice to drive the Utopia? (Gonna get a Utopia and change the cable to balance anyway)

Serious questions please, im ready to place the order in any time

Thx

They compare quite well...the LCD-4s (& SR-009s) are among the very best I've come across. Funny you should mention the GS-X Mk2...this combination is ridiculously good with both headphones.

I know of several people that have modified the stock and they appear to be content. So I guess there is no reason you can't do it. You don't modify Nordost because it's length and connector tunedthan

Thanks Jason, that's really helpful to know. I might try this route too if I ever get around to it. I'm still deciding whether to keep the Utopia's (most likely) and sell either my HE1K or SR-009's... these really are amazing.

OH! :flushed: All nice cans! I've been using 009's since they first came out. I really do like them. We sell them. Since that first day on the Utopia I've gone back and forth between them. The Utopia won the battle for my ears.

Well, that's great, but without an in-depth comparison to the SR-009 and Abyss, it's useless to me. (I think implying it's perfect is also something to avoid.) Too many audiophiles I trust say the Utopia can't beat those two, so I no longer have any interest in it.

That´s ok x RELIC x was thinking about me when he made the review which is why I find it very useful, but don´t despair, I´ll try and compare my VE Monk to the SR-009 and Abyss and get back to you

Makes me want to own one myself, although officially I'm satisfied with what I have.

Excellent set of impeessions. $18,000 worth of gear (not including your source - what is your source equipment and software?) better provide a "utopian, near perfect" listen g experience!

Because of the country I live I am not able to test the Utopias here before buying and $ 4000 is a lot of money. Utopias reviews up to now are very good but I ve read Tyll Hertsens saying that:

"Okay, enough with the romance—because I sure do have one with the Utopia—time to get picky. There's only two places in which I can fault these headphones. First, I could use a bit more bass under 200Hz....,"

So, then, everything marvelous with the Utopias but low frecuencies are a bit shy. Again the same issue as happen with Stax or Sennheisers ..... I listen to classical and jazz but I don't want to resign bass, and because of it I'm using now the Hifiman1000 which has a very good tonal balance and excellent low frecuency reproduction. It seems very difficult to upscale, isn't ?it?

In a short time the Elear pads will be available for those that want to get the feeling of increased bass in the Utopia. There is also the option of getting the Utopia pads for the Elear in the event the purchaser feels they want less bass. The Utopia is a reference headphone meaning incredibly accurate in tonal balance. It is not a headphone for those that prefer bass dominant headphones straight out of the box. Also the bass increases on the Utopia as it breaks in.

Will you be selling the Elear pads? (if not, where can we get them, Jason?)

Thanks for replaying. I do not mean bass dominant headphones. I don't mean Audeeze bass. Just deep bass and marvelous treble and mid frecuencies. The bass I mean is the one of the HF1000. Simple, not that difficult isn't it?
