Each to their own, I think for me the 933 is the better choice, you have one of the best headphones in the world so you want one of the best amps driving them,I think if something is better and you can afford it then get it, you have to pay a fortune for a slight improvement in sound quality but that's all it takes to make things sound even more special

I agree to an extent but I didn't think the 933 was really any better. I am happy to pay for small increases if I think the improvement is worth the extra albeit not a proportional one but the 933 just wasn't there for me.

I am currently debating whether the Utopia is worth the money over the HEK v2 for the same reason.

I like the remote on the 933 and no analogue volume control to affect the sound quality, but hey we all different, I'm made up you can't hear any difference as you have saved yourself a fortune, happy days

I could hear a difference but not one that made me think 'wow, I must have the 933'. That's the problem with the Utopia-i want to hate them so I don't have to sink the money but nothing so far comes remotely close!

Funny how preferences differ as well as it was lack of a prophet volume control that I really didn't like. Would have driven me mad fearing losing the remote!

a replacement remote wouldn't be much and I don't want to be sitting to close to the amp and it's heaven for me not bending down to turn the volume up or down especially with my back,I need Viagra just to keep me up erect with my posture these days

:) that last comment made me smile! I have my set up by my side of the bed so within arm's length at all times!

Just waiting for my Lavricables Master to turn up to see what that does for be and the HEK v2 to do a good side by side audition.

The 931 should be with be next week as well

Hi all, hope all my fellow Utopians's are doing good. I was a bad slack dog and did not upgrade my HE1K, thus I want to spend me cash on a balanced XLR cable for my Utopia. I am willing to spend up to $700. I am tempted to go with Norne Audio, however can anyone recommend a good cable craftsman. Thanks for your time.

I'm on the same boat regarding the HE1K.  I'm very happy with the Master series cable by Lavricables for my Utopia.

Those are very nice cables at pretty decent price.  How much improvement are you seeing compared to stock?
I'm using Norne Draug 2C and enjoyed it pretty much, but I'm curious about silver.

I never was a believer in the magic of fancy after market cables. The only reason I got the Lavricables was because I wanted a shorter cable with 4 pin balanced termination, and the Lavricables looked very nice and was priced right. After having read a few positive comments here I just went for it. Boy I'm glad I did. First reaction was a smooth, more refined sound that was lacking a little punch in the low end. The bass improved after few days or ten hours or so. It's hard for me to believe, but over the last hundred plus hours I kept on hearing improvement in clarity and punchy bass. I can't get myself to switch back to the stock cable. BTW, the ergonomics of the Lavricable is a huge improvement over the stock cable. That and the fact that it is really well built make a great purchase.

I don't want to deal with cables because who knows which cable sound accurate if they all sound different? So I rather stay with the stock cables which is how the Utopia was intended to sound like.

Also based on my experience with interconnects, cables below $500 don't sound that much different than cheapo $10 cables. It's only when going to uber expensive cables (like $5000) when the difference become night and day. So I stay away from cables in general.
