Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I was using the WireWorld Nano platinum for balanced. Used the PlusSound unbalanced (like their cables) but because I'm not a dealer I can't remember their part number! Plus something. Maybe they'll see this and let you know.

Hi Jason,

The cable you currently have is our Echo+ series.

At $600 I thought that my little chord Mojo sounded great with the elear! It could drive them well past what my ears can handle and the dac portion is well renowned. The portability of it is a huge plus too imo!

Really i am not sure what to say ,, your comment doesn't make sense to me ,,
i think you like thin starved sound ,, so its true that its a mater of preference as you said ..

Or you like a phat, overly thick sound. If the Mojo sounds thin and starved out to you then you are used to an overly thick amp. You'd hate the Hugo then. Audeze uses the Mojo. Mr Speakers uses the Mojo. It drives a lot of headphones very well. Look, I'm not trying to be a Mojo fan boy, like I said I also love other amps and do own other amps, but ...... whatever, talking in circles here....

I listened to the Mojo with my iPhone last night via of friend of mine in Lakewood. I don't disagree that is has enough output power to play the Elear loud and the DAC is definitely superior to the iDSD, but I still hold to my original position. The Elear sounds good with it, just like it sounds good with the C5. But stacked against a full size amp like the Stello HP100 it sounds noticeably thinner. Not nearly as bad as the iDSD but stil...

I'm sure I'll get more blowback for deriding the mighty Mojo, but I still think its a fair point. If consumers are looking to buy an amp specifically to pair with the Elear, I don't think a portable amp, even Mojo is going to tap the very best of the Elear.

Mains power supply and caps with power reserve for ultimate grip still do a better job.
That said, I will probably buy a Mojo down the line for the Sine. And think the Elear is the best headphone south of $2k bar none.

I own the Mojo and the Elear as well as a powerful desktop, Schiit Mjolnir 2. The Mojo is quite listenable paired with Elear however the more powerful amp certainly sounds bette. It's sort of like comparing apples to oranges when you compare a small little portable amp under 1w with a powerful desktop like 8w.

Been thinking of picking up a pair of Elears for my Plenue S and enjoyed going through this thread.  I have one question if somebody could help please?  The other set of cans I'm thinking about is the Beyer T1 2nd Gen.  I saw the post mentioning the T1.1 but has anyone been able to compare to the 2nd gen release?

Hi Jason,

The cable you currently have is our Echo+ series.
Thx! I get a lot of questions about your cables. I suggest you make more information available to the head-fiers. I don't often recommend a product I don't sell and in fact I'm not supposed to openly suggest or speak about your products here since I don't sell it.

Yes. I own both. Get the Elear. The 1.2 is great in its own right, and personally I find it more comfortable but in every other regard Elear bests it.imho.
