I'll definitely capture that in my review. But after a week, I can say that all three play on the same playground.

Looking forward to your thoughts! :)

Apparently my ETHER Flow will be here tomorrow. I'll see how the Flow fares.

I wonder what kind of aftermarket cable meshes better with the Utopia's sound (copper vs. silver)?

That would be a question you ask your ears. Where are you maybe I can arrange for you to audition some great cables that work really well in different ways. Keep 1 thing in mind always. Just like some headphones pair better with certain amps and DAC's you need to be sure you start with a consistent reference point. Our next leg of the 10 week old Utopia & Elear tours will include a cable referencing kit. A way to find out for yourself if high quality cables can enhance your rig. Part of this will demonstrate how adaptors can affect your sound quality. This is a kit by WireWorld that can really assist in your understanding of cables, connectors and adaptors. Stay Tuned!!

So while you're busy with your new Flows can I borrow your Utopia (just for a little bit)?

It depends upon how each is made, the real quality of the wire and the dielectric. I like good silver. I used to manufacture IC's and coined the term, dead soft silver in the audio use. Silver got a bad name when it was drawn incorrectly and not allowed to cool slowly, which allows for longer crystals and it makes sure it is dead soft and it didn't have the purity it should have, which isn't easy. You have to know your manufacture and that you are getting the real thing.

You'll have to rip them from my cold, dead hands, lol. :veryevil:

The timing was terrible for my wallet not knowing when, exactly, the Utopia would be available in Canada. Jason has been very helpful with information and demos for the US and has provided some useful info (to me) for Canada as well, but no exact date was known. I initially thought the Utopia was going to be Dec/Jan for Canada at the time when I ordered the Flow. When I saw the Utopia available I lost my mind and doubled down!!

Tomorrow after your Flows get there, I can say "But you're not even using them! You only have ears to listen to one set of headphones" ... I'm hovering around the add to cart and buy now buttons again. I'm also trying to tell myself to be patient for another month until I can demo them at a show. Just hoping I can talk myself out of spending the money... I want the Flows too from the descriptions I'm reading and I recently heard the Ether again, love them. Seems like the Flows should be a no brainer. I'm also thinking about the RNHP and wondering how the Utopia sound through that. I heard it with a pair of Denon D5000 and thought it was amazing. Need to add that to the list too... arggh.

I took a huge risk at these prices without a demo. Huge. As I mentioned in my 'review' comments section, if they didn't meet my (very high) expectations after reading around, and many PMs, they would have been returned or exchanged. I still have them.

In the end I would always recommend a demo first as not everyone will share the same preferences as myself.

It will be interesting to see what you think of the flow because you just got the utopia. I would imagine there will be a lot less new toy factor when you listen to the flow now.

I just got the Elear and was going to buy the flow too but now I might skip the flow and grab the Utopia.

My wife who normally just passes this stuff over, stole my Elears for 2 hours yesterday. She said "this is the first headphone you have had that I could see using, maybe we should get two"?!?!? I told here she could just have those and I would get the Utopia for "both" of us lol. We are going to demo the Utopia next month when were traveling.

I personally will prefer an OCC Copper cable. When I listened to them the cable was a Black Dragon and sounded fantastic. On the other hand I have the Elear and IMO those benefit from a silver cable. I am using a WireWorld Nano Platinum Eclipse or the MIT Vero Reference.

What's better? Going from HD 800S --> Utopia or Chord Hugo + Auralic Taurus MKII. --> Chord Dave + Auralic Taurus MKII?

Buying both the Dave and Utopia is too
much I think in 1 month.

On cables, it is my opinion it is the design and quality of materials. Well designed and implanted silver should work fine with the Utopia but some silver is done wrong, just like copper and that has led to the, IMO, misconception and bias. I will know in a short period of time in this case.
