Can these really be worth $500 more than the Celestee?
Not a fair comparison since the Clear MG are open back and the Celestee are closed back. The Celestee ($990) versus the closed back Focal Radiance ($1290) would be the proper comparison.

I wish people would GET OVER this 'oh, it's closed back, oh, it's open back, they're not the same' nonsense. IT'S TWO PAIRS OF HEADPHONES AND YES YOU CAN COMPARE THEM.

You're absolutely correct that one can compare the open back Clear MG to the closed back Celestee, it's just that the comparison wouldn't be of much use since anyone could rightfully claim that the differences are due to one being open back and the other being closed back. A similar concept would apply when trying to compare planar magnetic headphones to dynamic driver headphones.

And of course one can prefer the sound of open back planar magnetic headphones over the sound of closed back dynamic driver headphones (like any of the closed back Focal headphones) it's just that comparisons sometimes become open to so many questions that the comparisons become useless to many people. But hey this forum has lots of members so maybe there's someone who is willing to compare to the Clear MG to the Celestee.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to my MG this Weekend. It’s going to be difficult for my HD800s to get much head time anytime soon.

It bugs me that he pronounces it foCAL. I don't even care if that might be correct, I'm gonna pronounce it FOcal. My other hobby is photography so focal is a word that's already in my regularly used vocabulary.

Believe it or not it’s an iPhone 12 Pro, first photo is in portrait mode, the second is default settings.

Wow, that is exceptional for an iPhone 12. I have one and haven't taken a photo nearly that well!

I’m a first time owner of the Clear, my previous daily’s was the HD800s insane soundstage. I don’t think there is any dynamic that have come close. The soundstage on the MG are good but it certainly isn’t it’s best attribute.
