Nice write-up. I have the same problem with the Ety's and those kind people who think they have something you want while you are on the plane.
I was struck by a couple of things...
1) Why LGW-CDG-LHR? was this just to get round the M25 to Heathrow?
2) What is the route of the RTW ticket and how did you you purchase it for $4200?

I have gotten the travel bug recently. Although I can't really afford a RTW ticket right now, in a few years after I've saved up I'd like to hook up on a deal like that, quit my job and take a few months bouncing around the world.

How do you but a ticket like that? Travel agency?
