Any update on Legion coming out but with a way more plain faceplate? Talked to the table at CanJam NYC and the gentleman seemed open to it.

Shipping out next week. Contact FlipEars directly for a different faceplate.

Launch Video they just posted.

Still not clear yet with Flipears if they will release in regular faceplates.

Aries mentioned on our interview that it will be possible at some point.

100% agree! They are tuned extremely well and are extremely cohesive across all drivers throughout the entire frequency response.

The sub bass and bass quantity and quality are amazing on the XXIV, but of course a little PEQ boost makes it even better😁, and it handles it well.

I feel like the Aurora’s are just so natural and organic and present the music so faithfully to how the track was mixed.

It is a warm, balanced set and the vocals sound so engaging and emotional…they aren’t recessed, nor too far forward…they are just right!

The vocals don’t feel like they are separated out and pushed unnaturally forward, as with some hybrid IEMs. They also aren’t narrow in your head. They are staged perfectly! They sound full and rich, while maintaining outstanding clarity and detail. As many other reviewers have stated…they just come across so lush and organic!!

It almost feels more like I’m listening to a high-end studio monitor speaker vs. an IEM. And, they just beg to have you turn the volume up…nothing ever becomes harsh or sibilant…just more engaging and immersive.

The treble is very detailed…for my personal tastes, I just needed to add in a slight PEQ boost in the upper registers for a little more air. Doing so, really brings them to life even more.

Then there’s the build quality! Just ridiculous! So well built and stunning to look at. I appreciate the wider nozzles as I have larger ear canals…with the Baroque Tips they are very comfy. I’ve had them in for six hours straight without any discomfort.

I really just love these! Can’t get enough!

Unfortunately I couldn’t capture the light with the camera angle to properly show off the Aurora light show when it refracts light and reveals the shimmering, changing hues of blue and green with the silver logo.

I also love the attention to detail with the Aurora styling not just on the outer shell, but the inner side that faces the ear as well.

Then the “XXIV” included at the top.

These are special IEMs! And in my opinion, a STEAL at their price point!
How do you rank the aurora and the legion? To me the edge is still with the aurora, but even then its close.

It is such a tough call! The Legion with far fewer drivers comes so so close to the performance of the Aurora. To my ears, the Legion provides the same warm tonality and accurate timbre as the Aurora. The single Legion bass driver and BCD provide a more engaging, immersive, detailed, textured, juicier sub bass and bass response than the Aurora. The vocals sound ever slightly closer and cleaner, but slightly flatter in the Legion. The vocals on the Aurora, to me, sound slightly wider (not as in my head) with better separation. These two IEMs really do trade blows, which is surprising considering the Legion is less than half the price of the Aurora. I think the Aurora has slightly better staging, separation, resolution. Based on technicalities, I’d place the Aurora above the Legion. The Aurora is also more comfortable for longer listening sessions than the Legion. The bass on the Legion sounds so good though…it’s really impressive.

just grabbed a pair of of prestine 2nd hand Legion from trading forum today. the seller just bought in April then selling me at a bit less than 70% of listed price which seems a good deal. since demo the legion in AV shows, i've planned to get the legion sometimes later but not now, as i've bought several iems since april . . . but it's hard to pass a good deal when you saw one . . .

the legion is fun, warm sounding with very strong bass delivery and projects a vast soundstage. the faceplate is very nicely made though some may consider this is a bit too much. i found it very tasteful made anyway. the cable construction is top notch too.

on a/b comparison with the fiio fx-17 i just got yesterday, the fx-17 resolves notably better in both treble and bass regions, reproducing more details not noticeable with Legion. both requires similar level of power to push to my preferred listening level (i.e. they're quite easy to drive). but legion scores much higher in aesthetic aspect and value department. the eletech baroque ear tips are also notably better than the stock fiio eartips (havent try the spinfit tips coming with fx-17 yet).

flipears is one of the very few honest brands making high quality iems at a reasonable price level. looking forward to their good products in future.

Congrats on both IEMs! Wow! What a great deal on the Legion…that would be extremely difficult to pass up…even though you just got the FiiO. I was wondering how the FiiO sounded as it looks amazing. I had the FH19 and liked it, but found that the timbre was off and voices didn’t sound natural. I was tempted when I heard about the FX17 because I do love a nice titanium shell.

The Legion is definitely an amazing IEM. If you PEQ it, you can get much more clarity and sparkle out of the top end, as well the vocals. And while the stock cable is amazing, a cable upgrade does make a difference in resolution and clarity. I’ve paired the Legion with the Penon Pyramid VIII and it’s definitely worth it!

care to share your PEQ for the legion?
I cheated on the PEQ. lol.

I’m using Crinacle’s PEQ settings that were loaded to the PowerAmp App for the FlipEars Aurora. The Aurora and Legion are tuned very similarly and both really benefit from the PEQ configuration from Crinacle.

I can list the settings here when I get a chance, if you don’t use PowerAmp.

His settings really breathe life into the upper register and help provide more clarity in the vocals…I think more so where the lower mid bass can bleed ever so slightly into some male vocals.

I had been using DucBloke’s settings, but after using Crinacle’s…it’s a better sound for my ears. Both are great though.

Hey all, just wanted to share my FlipEars Aegis review!

This is a 1 DD + 1 BCD IEM. In my video and a few other places, I didn't have the opportunity to confirm but per the marketing material, the Aegis actually has a different DD than the FlipEars Legion. Same size, just different.

As usual, here's a general breakdown of pros/cons!

Pros: -Warm, bassy sound
-Bass is deep, punchy, engaging, bassier sounding than the Legion
-Mids are forward, excellent detail with instruments and vocals are full and excellent. Note weight is phenomenal. Very full presentation on mid range.
-Treble is pleasant, smooth
-Technical performance is good - soundstage is amazing, good overall separation
-Accessories are amazing! Seriously, great collection of tips, cable, carrying case.
-Gorgeous looks, smaller shell size could be a better fit vs Legion

Cons: -Not as balanced as Legion - this is a more musical, colored presentation of music.
-Treble is tilted down so wouldn't satisfy people craving balance or treble
-Ideally, neutral source is King here as it's already pretty colored in tonality. Can get a bit tooooo warm with Tubes (not a bad thing but finding the right balance is good)
-Not as technical as Legion. Bass can sound a bit softer/boomier.

Overall: the Aegis is one of my favorite basshead sets under $1k and is the best blend of bass, warmth and engagement.

It's a 5/5 for me and an easy recommendation. It is so dang guuuuud.
