FLC Technology FLC8 and FLC8s Impressions Thread

I would argue that the FLC8D is the greatest most unknown IEM. Seems to me that some major brand could do well to license this design and mass market the unit.

I would look at the filters a bit more carefully. The gunmetal and gold filters are good. In the latter days, FLC created a silver which I have not heard. But the blue and green filters are pretty much useless.

I agree wholeheartedly. The 8D is an incredible IEM. I'm not down with most of the audiophile stuff around here, but I've tried a lot of IEMs and a lot of expensive ones at that, and the 8D is as good or better than any of them. It is high into my top tier all-time.

I do miss my FLC8S, one of my very first IEM. Unfortunately I slept over them and they broke, since then got many IEMs many times their price including my current Andromeda 2020 but there was some magic happening in FLC8S (especially with Gold/Red/Grey combo) that I am still missing till today. Suffice to say that FLC8S was well ahead of its time and still can beat IEMs many time their price.

None idea if you'll find any frequency response measurements online, while you can use google translate to translate these chinese webside into your native language

http://www.soomal.com/doc/10100007951.htm
Thanks. At least some more photos of the Celeste.

Unfortunately one has to be registered there in order to read the sound analysis on page 2 (which I just did - just need to wait for my Soomal account to be activated).

I registered there and can now finally view the full page. No frequency response measurements, but at least some impressions.
According to the site (if it's translated more or less correctly), the Celeste, when compared to the FLC8s:
• are even more resolving and smoother in the mids and treble.
• have got a treble tuning very similar to FLC8 and FLC8n.
• resolve better than the Westone W60.
• are not as dynamic in the highs as the Audeze LCD-i4.
• are comparable to the Sony Z5 in the highs, but those have less density (whatever taht means).
• have a very open soundstage (out-of-the-head experience).
• have a fairly full midrange tuning regardless of switch setting.
• outperform the Shure SE846.

Anybody here own the Celeste and can comment on them? By the way, is FLC out of business or just diminished in size?
I think they are diminished in size. Messaged their taobao shop months ago to ask about more info regarding their FLC 9(were up for sale) and also Celeste(half priced).

Was told that lendmeurears (emailed lendmeurears and they confirmed that as well that they are communicating woth FLC) will have the 9 soon. But to no avail now. Also, FLC mentioned they will start to advertise the Celeste heavily after the half price discount.

I just recently received the balanced cable 8D as the successor to my 8S and gotta say that I am very pleased with the build quality, fit and overall SQ. IMO, they compete well against IEMs costing hundreds of $$ more. My personal preference is the gunmetal filter.

Congratulations on the 8D. I also have the balanced cable and also prefer gunmetal. Did you buy those new or used? Not the easiest units to locate I would imagine.

I bought them new from Amazon.

I saw the Amazon vendor was LendMeUrEars in Singapore. That is a good vendor and something of a FLC specialist which is good.

I think the 8D will be my daily driver. Probably the most comfortable IEM that I own.

Some how my reply to Snuffy got corrupted. My post was in reply to his and stated the 8D would likely become my daily driver. Don't know what happened!
