Hello DiYers! I recently became interested in making my own interconnect cables and so I bought the necessary supplies online and received them within a few days. Today I litz braided my SPC wire and was quite content with the general ease of the process. The only thing I'm a bit confuzzled about is how flat the wire is as opposed to a rounder shape.

Is it supposed to be like this? My cable looks noticeably flat in the 'metallized Mylar' "techflex" I'm using. Does the multifilament nylon Techflex retain a rounder shape than the Mylar?

Funny, I was about to ask a similar question. I haven't done my litz braid yet but was wondering how people kept the round shape. It seems like the techflex would only keep it's shape if you kept the interconnects straight. So, do you need to put them in some sort of clear tube or is there another option..as kiwiclx pointed out.

Hope I haven't taken your post off topic.

Expert diy'ers what's your take?

Same here. Kiwiclx, what diameter is your flex? I find that 1/8" flex over litz braid comes out pretty round. I can see it getting maybe slightly more flat with 1/4" flex.

Not too long after I posted, I studied my wire a bit an came to the conclusion the braids were just a bit too tight. I practiced making a 5' wire and it was much more acceptable.
