For anyone out there that hasn't yet experienced the Flare EARS, I have a set of the R model for sale on ebay and in the classifieds....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355611061636

https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/flare-audio-ears-r-model-rare.65733/

I do have the full range of the EARS, having purchased the E and S models through Indiegogo and then picking up the A and R models on ebay. The R model is the first to go to fund other purchases.
Think the was my "R" you picked up on eBay. I never opened it - how did you find it compares to the "S" in terms of sound (and weight)?

No difference in sound to be honest. I didn't weigh them to see a difference, but the R model felt a bit lighter to me. I was planning on using the R's for travel and the S at home, but I've made a few other purchases last week that would be better for travel. It's funny (and bad for the wallet) how quickly IEM plans can change!!! LOL

Ain't that the truth, as the phrase goes. This is less like a hobby and more like an addiction sometimes!

How are people still getting on with their EARS? I did start to move towards my IMR Enigma's being my daily driver, but I keep going back to the S model. There's just something about the sound signature which keeps me hooked to them. It's a shame that these haven't moved onto Flare's main website for sale - looks like they're just happy to go along with the e-prototype. That in itself wouldn't be an issue if they were using the upgraded beryllium driver and had a changeable cable, as I think the e-prototype shape is much better.

They have got a new product teaser on their website for something called "Immerse", but it looks like another one of their products like the calmer or earHD instead of an IEM. It's a big shame really considering how good their IEMs sound. Come on Flare, improve on the EARS and give us a new and improved model!!!!

I think Immerse is going to be the retail version of EARS, just looking at the website pictures.

Still using my R every day. Would welcome a tad less treble roll-off, but I have Sony IER-M9 when I'm in the mood for a little more energy up top.

I tend to only miss the treble when I initially switch from listening to another IEM. Once I've been listening exclusively to the EARS for any period of time, the treble seems to just be right for me. I tend to find the music coming from the EARS to be very relaxing whilst still detailed, but then I am a bit treble sensitive so the EARS are at a good level for me.

I intitially thought that the Immerse could be the follow-up to the EARS, but then when you look at the artwork, the white line appears to be going into an opening in the casing , which makes me think that it is along the lines of the EARHD rather than IEMs. I've attached some screenshots and if you look closely in the circled part, which is also in the zoomed photo, this looks like a cut out.

I contacted Flare by webchat yesterday to ask about the EARS availability. I was told that they have no plans to add the EARS to their website and consider EARS to be discontinued. This is due to the feedback that they have received about the model. They are considering all of the feedback and have not abandoned the Mirror Image Sound concept. So it sounds quite positive that we'll have a new and improved version out at some point in the future. Whatever the next step they take, I think I'll be pre-ordering it to see how they improve. They've made some good improvements between the e-prototype and EARS, so hopefully these improvements will continue.

Yes, that close-up does look like a cut out, so perhaps you are right.
Flare are so frustrating - they should take the feedback onboard and go again, and again.

I think they will release a follow up, but I just don't think they're in a rush to do so. It appears that they're more focused on their calmer products than their IEMs. Myself, I think that they should have struck whilst the iron was hot after releasing the EARS and built up more momentum with IEMs. I just hope that they don't take too long.

I think there is a scale issue at play here. They recently posted that they had reached 1 million transactions on their website, si that means they have sold hundreds of thousands of units of gear. The bulk is with their isolate and calmer ranges, so makes sense they will concentrate on that side of their product book.

IEMs are probably a sideline, especially considering they also have a large scale business making and supplying concert and studio speaker systems.

Still using mine regularly. I’ve been using some of my over-ears recently, but switched back to the EARS (R model), and I love the oomph behind them. Using the same DAC with different pairs really lets you test the difference.

I pair mine with the Fiio BTR5 when I’m on the go but have recently, and rather reluctantly, downgraded myself to my work iPhone and ditched my S22, because I got sick of carrying two phones around. I’m currently working out if I can hear a difference in the lack of codec support!

e-prototype at 50% for Black Friday - only £99.95
I'd say they are still overpriced at that sale price when you take into account that they are 3d printed, not great quality fixed cable and standard dynamic driver. Especially when you consider what you can get for that price with chi-fi.

It's a shame really considering the quality of the music that they reproduce.

Yeah, I find moving away from the EARS and then going back to them reminds me of how good the sound is from them. The sound signature is so different to any other IEM that I have.

Just looked up the IMMERSE and given the reference to a better music experience. I am going with a new IEM. And it looks quite compact. I do like what looks to be a cable quide on the end to direct the cable upwards over the ear also. Continue to thoroughly enjoy my S model. Ever since receiving them, have not even considered going back to any of my other 35 IEM’s whatsoever. Also have not even considered purchasing any other IEM’s available. They have the sound qualities I have been searching for over 45 years or so. Incredibly privileged to own the E-3D-1 and S model. That being said, I will certainly purchase Flare Audio’s next IEM.
