Just wondering if there is any qualitative difference between FLAC and ALAC files.  The are both the same concept.
 
Will my ALAC files sound any different from a FLAC file?

If you are going to be playing audio files on a non-apple device, might as well get FLAC.

They both contain the same information, flac is just far more widespread.
