i'm a audio/electrical idiot : (

plz help me !

I ripped a wire on my cousin's headphone and i dunno if i can repair it by soldering the wires together or wut not.

(the ripped wire its a small plug like the ones on the walkman, and the wires are coated with some sorta thin wire and inside it is like string like material)

can it be done? or do i have to replace the entire wire?
or is it better to just buy new ones

plz help me

thank Q all

welcome to head-fi. sorry about your wallet.

how expensive are the headphones?

chances are you can find a buddy to replace the plug (you can get one at Radio Shack for under $3.00) by soldering the wires.

if you can find an old man in a delapidated hifi repair store, he can probably do it for about $10. and if you list your location in your profile, there may be a computer / hifi geek who could do it for free.

the problem will come in if you tore it when it was inserted into the walkman. the walkman plug may have sustained damage, and the receptecle may have to be resoldered (they're usually torn etches - so they'll need a little wire soldered on).

best of luck.
