I've a pair of k81dj headphones, which I love. The ribbed wiggly part of the 1/8 minijack failed and no longer works / connects. Rather then sending it to AKG and waiting for them to fix it, I was thinking it might be possible for myself to do. I don't necessarily want to do a full recable - I like the long cable it comes with, in fact - but I'd be okay with a new cable, too. Mainly, I just want to fix them for cheap. If I could just wire the leads into a new connector that'd be cool. Anybody have advice on this? I have little/no experience with this kind of thing D:

Its really very simple. Get some neutrik plugs. Straight or L-plug, whatever you like. You just gotta strip some coating off the snipped end and solder the wires in. You're also gonna need some heatshrink to cover the plug and provide some kind of strain relief on the cable.
On the k81 cable, the L/R signal wires are insulated with a red coating while the grounds are unshielded.
