Hey guys,
I'm looking for a nice pair of headphones that:
1. Have nice sound quality (not an audiophile but I have a good ear)
2. Look somewhat stylish (I'm going to be wearing these out and about, and around campus)
3. Cost ~$100
4. Sounds good with indie, alternative, and electronic (essentially covers wide range of musical taste

I've been looking around and have been thinking about getting either the AKG K172HD, Sony MDR-XB600, or Sol Republic Tracks Ultra

Which one is fits me the best? Thoughts/other recommendations?

Thanks!

Oh and idk if this helps but I have Sennheiser HD 428 and I like their sound for the most part but I feel they lack a little bit in bass and they're sometimes too quiet in loud situations

Ever look at the Uptown/Downtowns? Rather stylish (and if you're not a fan of the brown they have other colours :p). The XB600 were rather meh and honestly the XB500s were much more interesting. Those K172HDs aren't exactly bassier than the HD428 (if that's a problem you could try the bass mod with the Senns, quite easy - http://www.head-fi.org/t/646251/sennheiser-hd-428-hd-428s-modding-guide-january-2013)

I will recommend to save little more and buy M80, they are amazing for the current price and isolate well, has small form factor for portable use, built well and sound realy good with dynamic punchy bass and work well with all almost all genres music. But for current price i will recommend the Klipsch Image ONE, Sony XB600, Shure SRH750DJ, SRH440, AKG K450, JVC Nano Tubes on ears, Philips Uptown and Nuforce.

Sony XB600

Thanks for the reply! I think I will go with Sony bc their fairly cheap and my friends like them. From the Sony line would you recommend the 400, 600, or maybe even the 800? Every review I can find on them contradicts the other..but that seems to be the truth with every headphone I look at haha
Btw my friend had me listen to his x500s. They sounded good but how do they compare to the 600s?

did i? what's the model again?
i don't think i did recommend it yet, since i don't even have a pair. the reviews hold me back a bit.
but now i'm sure i found something even better. the JVC HA-S500

ah, i see that thread now. it's in fullsize forum, that's why i recommended XB500.
Yeah, right now i pretty much recommend S500 over all of them. not just for basshead, since you can mod them and match what u like.
