Well, it begins. I bought a pair of Sony EX-71s about 3 weeks ago, and realized that I had to have more. Since then, I found head-fi, and have subsequently purchased a set of UE Super.fi 5 Pros and a pair of K701s(on order). It hasn't even been a month, and I'm already getting drawn in.
That being said, I'm now in the market for a dedicated headphone amplifer to drive these wonderful little devices. Sources will be an iPod (turbodock on the way) and a laptop PC. I'm interested in something with an onboard DAC (for watching DVDs), but thats not a make-or-break deal.
The Total Bithead sounds like a pretty darn good bargain, but will it be sufficient to bring out the best in my 701s?
Musical interests include: Post-Rock (GY!BE, Sigur Ros, etc), jazz, classical, and indie rock (Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens, etc).
Budget: As its my first amp, I'd like to stay under the $350 mark.
Thoughts as of right now: Total Bithead, AE-1, Hornet, MkIII USB.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
