I've avoided buying an amp for a few years now (since I got into this stuff) but I think the time has come.

I've been using e4cs straight out of a 20g photo and they sound ok, but I've read so much about how they improve with an amp.

So the plan is to get a pocketdock and one of the following amps.

bargain portaphile v1 for 99
super mini moy (order cancellation) for 85
go vibe for 89

or, if you people feel it is necessary I could spend a bit more and get

portaphile v2^2
or
bithead (because other than the ipod I use my laptop for listening)

I would rather keep things under 100, but if the sound would be significantly better, I can spend more. The bithead is kinda a wildcard there, because the dual usage is intriguing.

Before the e4s I had UM2s with a Karma and that sounded a lot better than my current setup, but I am hopeful that a good amp will reverse the situation.

Anyway, I would love some opinions. If there is something else in my pricerange in need to consider, please let me know. And if possible, be kind to my wallet.

Check out the offerings from Z-Audio.com. I really enjoyed the amps when I got to demo them, and I know there have been quite a few other members who were impressed by the sound as well. A search will definately turn up results

You can get a portable pimeta for around $100 as well.
