First headphones after discovering Head-Fi

CAL! (Creative aurvana live)  58 shipped. I cant find anything i like more under 200.
however i want a little more treble maybe.
Next, KSC75, sound damn near what i wanted but i paid like 25 bucks and they are a little uncomfortable under a helmet.
I might get these for 15 bucks in the future to mod the living poo out of them
Now, ordered the Audio Technica CKM50 recommended by Dsnuts for the awesome sound (aparently) and small size/good comfort to lay down or use under a helmet.
theyre also not open so sound isnt altered under my snowboard helmet.

Grado 225i.  Love the sound.  Comfort was terrible at first, but they've broken in.  Really detailed, bright, and fun headphones.

Next I plan to get the Sennheiser HD25-II for portable use, and from there, more to the high-end stuff.  My girlfriend said, might as well go big, so I said, OKAY!

It was the following:

SRH-840 > M50 > DJ100 (within a few months of finding Head-Fi)

All my various open headphones are kind of a side-grade. None of them are as engaging and as fun as a good closed headphone. Don't know why.

HD-598 and Q701 are what i'm stuck with for open headphones.

I could sell every headphone but my Q701, DJ100 and HD-598 and be perfectly happy. They seem to do everything right. I'd take the DJ100 over any of them though despite not being technically as good.

AKG k540: pre-headfi (they brought me here)
HD598 & sr125: post-headfi
dt770: came today

Prob moving onto k70x, 650, 880 next after getting a nice amp & dac.  Trying to decide which company I like best as of now.  Definitely not Grado... I like that beyer makes their main line of cans in Germany still, but I have a soft spot for akg for introducing me to better headphones (started with hearing the k270 playback), though my 598s are my best overall headphones I'd say.  The new dt770s are fun but I don't see them being used for serious reference style listening like the 598s.  Though, that being said I don't have as much fun with the Senns... idk I have some thinking to do.  Though akg seems to be the worst of my top three companies honestly... Harman hasn't done them justice.

Ah, my first pair of headphones after finding Head-Fi were the Sennheiser HD 580s that I'm currently listening through right now. Got them NOS for around $200. They were not my first "high end" headphones (and are not my favorites either), but they've endured quite a few changes over the years, and I don't see myself ever getting of them (if for not other reason than I can't ever replace them with another new pair, and with the recent price fixing on the HD 600 and 650, it just makes them that much more valuable).

Hmm. My first anything other than the ibuds were the Klipsch S4i. Then shortly after came the Sennheiser IE8's. I believe my first full-sized headphones were the Audio-Technica M50's.... And then it all just went downhill from there... (well downhill for my wallet, but uphill for my ears.) :D

Indirect help from Head-fi by lurking and help from other local forums, I got the Senn HD218. Then with direct help form Head-fi, more specifically, Armaegis, I got my CAL! last year. Might just be the best thing since ever, seeing as so far, it is by far quite flat soundwise, with maybe a bit of midrange boost.

Then I got the ever venerable Koss Portapros, and learned the joys of modding (although what I did with mine is just small stuff compared to what others with better facilities than a measly dorm in a very expensive city to live in can do). Now I'm waiting for my JVC HA-FXT90, Comply T400 tips, and HD414 earpads to arrive. And as of writing this I'm reading a lot (a bad habit) about the Alessandro MS1i and Grado in general.

Personally it is fun, but the opposite to my thrifty side of me.
