Hey all,

I'm here looking for for some sage advice about my first amp for the HP's I intend to buy.

I plan on upgrading my cans from a set of Altec Lansing's (yea yea, laugh it up) to one of three choices: The ATH-A900/AD900 or the DT770-pro 80's. I will be using these for my desktop computer at home that runs a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard. Honestly, I'm not sure I even need an amp with my soundcard.

When I'm not gaming, I listen to alot of music. Usually Electronica (House/Trance) or Rock/Hard Rock but I like something from EVERY genre.

While I would like to spend loads of money on an amp, current funding is going to come up slim so I'd like to stay under $150USD if possible.

Any suggestions or help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks for your time.

If you love Electronica or Rock genre music, DT770/80 is your best bet.
Plus, running straight from soundcard isn't recommended, but they're fine.
For $150 budget, there is not much choice for you, but still there is couple option you can choose.

- Mini^3 , you can ask Mister_X or go to RockhopperAudio to build this amp
- iBasso P2 , Products

I've heard that about the DT770/80's but how well do they perform while gaming? I understand this is the amp section but you've piqued my interest Capunk

Oh and by the way. Thank you very much for the suggestions! I think I'm going to go with the iBasso P2 but now I'm not sure which cans to go with. The Dt770/80 pro's or the A/AD900's. Suggestions maybe?

Thanks h4n9m4n!

Just to make sure here as I am completely new to this.....

Will the iBasso P2 be ok for the DT770 Pro's as a desktop PC amp? I plan on using the AC power to run it and just leave it on my desk.

Thanks
