Hi,
Well i was looking into getting a amp for my headphones and stumbled across a Rega Ear for sale locally second hand.Im on a budget and price is pretty good compared to purchasing new so i was wondering if this amp would be a good start into Headphone amplification? I was wondering too how well does it compliment Senn 595 and Grado SR80?Im sure i will be able to have a listen when i go to view it but i thought it better to ask you guys in advance your thoughts.

Um, it will work and help but it's probably not the best choice for the two cans - unless the 595 is the high impdence version.

Basically the rega was designed for the 580/600/650 series with their higher impedence - hope that helps.

ok il stay clear then my 595s are only 50ohm.What else would you recommend?

I'd reccomend figuring out what you want, prorities etc. from a functional point of view - does it need to be mobile or transportable (probably not if you were considering a Rega) - do want DYI or a more manufactured look - need cross-feed or don't care - gain selection or the ability to drive a wide range of heapdhones is nice, etc.

The Gilmore light is a frequent reccomendation since it can drive a lot of cans - but like the rega it is an ac only unit. Also around $300.
