First Amp, CMOY:BB

I was going to build one too, thinking I had a bunch of applicable parts on hand. When I rummaged around and realized I didn't, I ordered one built from him. I'm hoping it'll arrive tomorrow or Friday.

I don't think it's hard to build myself, but then I have substantial experience with homebrewed amateur radio gear. I just didn't feel like going through the parts-ordering hassles. If he sold complete kits, I'd definitely have gone that way.

Cool deal! Just save up a bit at a time and build it. Itll be a great experiance for you, and you can take pride in knowing you did it yourself, and people will see it and ask you about it and stuff.
In the meantime, get out the candy store and pick out a really cool box! Or use a Zippo cigarette lighter box, or something

Maybe you can be the first one to build it into a seashell and add a power supply and make a cool looking desktop one...lol , or into something else for fun

And I was wondering:

Do you guys have parts laying around that you'll be willing to donate?
Is that site the best priced site around? (I'm poor)

Thank you for the help

For this particular amp, I'm willing to donate:
1) a CmoyBB PCB
2) a plain silver-colored tin
3) an external LED

When you've collected enough of the parts that you'll use to populate the PCB so that you're sure you're actually going to go through with the build, send me a PM with a shipping address, and I'll send these three things to you as my donation.

Let me know if you'd rather use a mint tin of your own choosing for the look of it, and I'll NOT send the plain silver-colored tin.

The CmoyBB is a very clean-sounding amp that makes listening to music very enjoyable from a very modest source and with modest phones. Good choice!

I am planning to build one also, the amp itself is not expansive, but the tools are

. I already spent over 100 getting tools since I got nothing at home.

Also the shipping is a pain in the ass too.

Alright, I started buying the parts, so far I've got:

9v battery
soldering iron
and maybe some tins form a donation.

But when I went to the store to look for some solder, I ran into a problem. For some reason the only types of solder they sell are "lead free".

Is there anyone out htere willing to donate some solder wiht lead in them? Or know where in Hawaii I can get solder with lead in them?

are you more interested in building an amp or are you more interested in listening to music? people tend to pay a premium to build something themselves (myself included) just for the fun factor. if you just want to listen, you can purchase a really nice amp in the for sale section. just do a little research on what is out there and you can pick up a great portable amp for less than the cost to build. if you really just want to build, i recommend Tangentsoft's site for the basics on how to build a CMOY: Audiologica hey, but what do i know - i'm new to this too
