Hi!

Up to this moment I've been playing computer games only with loud-speakers of my hi-fi tower and it seemed ok, however recently when I'm more into pro-gaming I realise that lack of good sound positioning results in worse Kill/Death ratio in games I play (CS, SOF2).

However, my budget is regrettably confined to $20 - 25 at most :/

My question is: Is it possible to find satisfactory gaming headphones at this price at all? I'm no hardcore audiophile, all I really care for is sound positioning And buillt-in mike (for voice com among team/clan mates). My sound-card... All I can state is its existance in my PC

Please take a look at www.media-tech.pl - these headphones are very popular in Poland, at reasonable prices. Top model costs $15..

Does that really mean it's so many times worse than Sennheisers and Audiosones you were talking about earlier in gaming h-phones forums? I underline all I want them for is FPP gaming, where determining position/distance to enemy is vital.

Afaik Koss products are also considered low-cost, is there a model in $20-25 price range suitable for gaming, or any other model up to $25 of any make that would do?

I'll be grateful for any tips from you, headphones gurus

perhaps it's too hard for you to switch from the $100-$200 price range to belove $25, and perhaps if there's some really nice model for i.e. $30

I can somehow squeeze those extra bucks out of my polish wallet

Once again input please

KSC 50 is open though - someone here claimed closed are better for positioning?

Koss UR20 is closed and cheap as well for that matter

Hi,

Just suggestion, but did you look at the Sennhesier HD 202? It cost about $25 at www.headphone.com. I haven't heard these, so I can't recommend it but it's worth looking into. Also, the Sennhesier HD 212-Pro is also another suggestion but it's cost about $50. Like I said, just suggestions and can't really recommend them because I got no experience with them. I hope you find the perfect headphone.

-Thanks

Yes 202 would still fit in the price range and if it's nice for gaming... $50 for the other one is too much considering I'll have to buy a stand-alone mike anyway

Anyone who tested 202 maybe?

And what about closed - open issue for gaming?

the KSC-50 doesn't have a really long cord, so it probably won't reach to your sound card unless your computer is on your desk or something. Also, from what i experienced, they tend to hurt your ears after an hour or so. otherwise though, they are a very good bargain for music. i don't think they are that suitable for gaming.

Ok I'm leaning towards UR 20 or HD 202 now, especially since my gaming sessions go into 15 hours sometimes, Yes I'm a freak

Still I don't know how to deal with lack of built-in microphone really.. Has anyone got any experience with attaching a hands-free mike?

I have the Koss UR20s.
I don't really like them.
They are very comfortable and they isolate fairly well, but they don't sound that good.

BUT, I don't know if you could do any better than the UR20s for a full-sized closed phone for $20.

My suggestion is to wait and save up your money till you are ready to get a better can. In <$25 price range definately won't do any good. Even your loudspeakers will be much better in this case.
I suggest that you get the mdr-v6( that's well below $100, w/out microphone) then you can attach a mic to it or something..
or get the beyerdynamic dt234pro( esentially beyer dt231 but with micrphone) the price for this I'm not too sure though.

Unfortunately after doing some research it seems already KOSS is hardly available in Poland, UR 20 only in one place at a very *unreasonable price (~ $45).

That makes me turn either for Sennheiser HD 202 or MT 368 ( www.media-tech.pl ), the latter remaining a mystery as for sound and overall quality, but with a build-in mic :/

How about other products? I need a buillt-in mike so much and I cant really imagine dealing without it

edit:
all beyers are $60+ I'm afraid.. And even if I managed to save up somehow, in polish reality I would look pretty easy-going in my parents' eyes if I spent $70 on headphones (V6), if you know what I mean.. I need to stick to cheap cans
