Yeah, after reading up a lot and posting some threads here and there, I finally took the dive. The Cowon D2's design wasn't very nice, the Clix2 was overpriced, and the only thing left on my mind is the iPod Nano with a line-out plus an amp. Got myself a Nano 8GB, Ultimate Link Crescendo i direct line-out cable, and paired them with my LDM+ and Mylarone3s.

Man, I'm not disappointed. The line-out was amazing compared to my old Meizu M6 with the same amp and earphones, there was so much more details. While the bass was a little on the weak side, there was still enough to make me happy.

To fix this, I ordered an iBasso T1 and hopefully it will redeem this lack-of-bass problem, and judging from the good reviews, I bet I will like it more than my current LDM+.

I have a 4GB 2nd gen. iPod Nano and like its versatility. That's right -- "iPod" and "versatility" in the same sentence. I love my Rio Carbon and Karma, and I use a Samsung YP-U2 frequently, but the iPod Nano is turning into a real workhorse player for me.

When traveling recently, I could listen ultra-portably to the player unamped on the airplane (using Etymotic ER6i's), listen via a mini-to-mini plug in a car that had an auxiliary port on the face of its stereo, and listen in my room via a pretty good set of Logitech mm50 travel speakers (which charge the player). That's not even counting the potential to listen to certain iPods via portable line out or line out to home stereo through a dock, or to Rocbox the player or use other software or mods.

As "plain vanilla" as iPods might seem, there are options for expanding usability beyond the "128kbps AAC and iBuds" level.
