I've been planning on building a stand for quite some time. I have some douglas fir left-over from the build of my post and beam house so I wanted to use it to build a stand with. I'm glad fir is a soft wood because if I attempted to build this out of a hardwood, it would've taken me a lot longer.

My thanks to SWT61 for the tips.

That is a very nice looking stand. I could just see a little bit of fine painted on pattern to go along with the theme of headphones. Eh, gotta get a stand and whip out my old high-school set of brushes and paint >.<

Love the grain on the base. Nice and simple detail. I like how it sort of tapers in near the bottom.

Do you have an estimate on weight? Looks very solid, but I'm not that familiar with fir (or many other woods for that matter).

Thanks for the compliments, guys. The idea about the cable holder has been on my mind for quite some time. Though I didn't come up with the final design till I was actually working on it.

Khbaur - the stand is a bit on the light side. Fir is similar in weight to pine.
