For those of us Dynaudio fans, we have been waiting for them to do something...a bit smaller.

Well, looks they have teamed up with Oppo to do just that!

The OPPO Enco X are new ANC TWS earbuds tuned by Dynaudio

OPPO has launched the latest addition to its Enco series of TWS earbuds. They are equipped with a dual-core chipset to control their active noise cancelling (ANC) features. The OEM also describes them as having been developed in partnership with the Danish sound specialist Dynaudio. These new Enco buds are Bluetooth 5.2 and have USB type C charging.

On the evening of October 19th, OPPO held Smart Life’s new product launch conference and introduced a new product: Oppo Enco X Specifications and headphone price. OPPO product manager said OPPO Enco X positioning is wireless headphones sound quality benchmark. The OPPO and Denmark’s top audio brand Dynaudio reached a partnership, Dynaudio’s flagship audio series creator Daniel Emonts for the OPPO Enco X headphones tuning. After 30 kinds of material exploration, 120 rounds of structural modifications, 152 device selection choices for creating a truly natural sound.

Dynaudio was bought by Goertek, a fairly well known Chinese audio parts supplier a few years ago and Goertek has been supplying Oppo speaker units in both its smartphones as well as earphones for a few years now as well. I think to say this new Oppo new TWS is tuned by Dynaudio is more of a convoluted way of marketing promotion between Oppo and Goertek.

I have purchased these to compare with Sennheiser Momentum TW 2. I like what I hear a lot! Dual driver design clearly beats single DD. SW and ANC could be better but sound wise I prefer Oppo over Sennheiser based on day1 side by side comparison with Tidal as source.

I am very interested in these. @chortya could you elaborate on the SQ of these, please?

Crisp highs and powerfull bass. Clearly V-shaped but I like it. Momentum TW2 sounds muffled in comparison due to lack of BA for the highs.
Medium soundstage stage but good detailes. Out of memory very similar to Freebuds Pro from Huawei which I liked a lot too but I stayed with Momentum TW2 due to comfort.
ANC is very limited, that is probably why you will find a lot of returns at Amazon Warehouse.

For my taste the only better TWS/Neckbands are from Sony, WI-1000XM2 is currently unmatched in SQ due to dual-driver design, broad soundstage and LDAC support. But they suffer from significan microphonics.

They painted Airpods Pros black?
I'll ignore your comment, Apple is far away from beeing innovative anymore, they are just marketing mastermindes. They set the stage for the mass and increase overall price levels, and are not relevant to hifi community at all. Oppo definetely is with a great history of hifi products and mobile phones with dedicated DACs.

I own Dynaudio speakers. They are known for their gorgeous midrange. That said, I also ordered a pair of these from Amazon.de. They were on sale for 120 EUR and shipping to the US is another 20 EUR. So 140 EUR / 170 USD.

I grabbed Airpods Pro from my wife and also did side-by-side comparison using my Samsung Fold2. Not sure if this is the combo of Android and Airpods but they are completely unenjoable. Mids focused with recessed bass. Same track with Oppos and I just need to nod my head in tact of a nice bass beat.
I just reordered Freebuds Pro and expecting Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch to arrive tomorrow and will try to do a high end TWS comparison for you guys.

Got my pair a few days ago. Early impressions, they are a fun sounding headphone...there is a definite v-shape, the bass is impressive and straddles the line of almost being too boomy, was kind of amazed at how low it seems to go, in bass heavy genres I find it on the edge of being a bit much but for rock it's not too bad although thats were the mids feel a little recessed to me but not enough to halt my enjoyment. Ideally i'd pull back the bass and treble just a little, I bet with some EQ these sound sound really really good. Maybe a touch bright for some people too but for me its fine.

Other things:
Fit/feel - great
Touch controls - great
Case - great, NFC pairing and device switching with the button on the side
ANC - average, seems poor compared to sony/apple/libratone
App - firmware updates only, with EQ these would be great

For comparisons my Libratone Track Air + which is my favourite out of the "feature" TWS Iv'e tried (actually fits in the case with foam tips and has great anc) sound a bit dull and life-less when I A/B them. If I was picking between the two....just for travel and on the go I'm sticking with the libratone, I prefer the stronger ANC and neutrality when I have over ears when I want pure SQ. I think the Enco X....if you like the v-shape are the better pick in a lot of ways. Neither one beats the other, they are just different. Changing the default EQ and slightly better anc would make these my favourite and I havn't tried LHDC so can't comment on that. All listening was done with android AAC on an S20+.

Edit: Got them for £135 from amazon...oppo selling them for 170 - not sure if its a miss price or not, worth it in my eyes. Keeping both pairs for now.

Despite living in the US, I ordered these from Amazon.de and had them shipped here. They were on sale for 130 EUR plus 15 EUR international shipping, so about 145 EUR or around $170 USD. For those that don't know, you can use your same login credentials for Amazon.de as .com and order all sorts of things the latter doesn't have, if they offer international shipping. These arrived at my doorstep three days after ordering.

The Oppo Enco X is my first wireless headphone. They are still opening up so sound impressions are not final. It definitely seems more "V" shaped at first, emphasizing treble and bass over the luscious mid-range Dynaudio is known for. But since I listen to a lot of female vocal trance with my IEMs I suppose they are appropriate for this genre. These are NOT Beats bass heavy either. I am just saying that the emphasis is more on the low- and high-ranges.

The noise cancelling feature works great on these, as good as I have heard on Bose units. It has three different noise cancelling settings.

Otherwise, what else can I say about them? The fit with the stock IEM tips is terrible. I tried all sizes and could not get the left ear to fit and isolate. I had to use gel tips that I had been using with other IEMs. The problem with these is that the charging case cannot close with any tips besides the stock ones from what I can tell, so in order to charge the IEMs I have to remove the tips that fit best. This is a PITA.

The last thing you want is the risk of these falling out, which seems to be quite easy for my ears.

Battery life is pretty terrible. I have been listening to them for 20 minutes after a full charge and I am already at 90%. I think 3-4 hour battery life might be typical with 5 hours being a stretch. I will have to find out.

In terms of volume, I also think they could be louder.

In conclusion, I guess they are only okay but I have little to compare them to. The best part about them is the freedom from wires. I am glad I did not pay a penny more for them and I probably paid too much, even with them on sale. I guess I would give them an overall score of 5.5/10.0 or so. MSRP in the US should be no more than $150.

hi chortya

I for one would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on that comparison.

The enco x are on my radar atm and interested to know how they fair against airpods pro, freebuds pro and cambridge audio melomania touch from a first hand user experience.

If you have the time and patience to share your thoughts on those earbuds it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Alastair

Hi, in the meantime I have sent the Oppos back. Go for Samsung Buds Pro (prefered) or Freebuds Pro (second choice). Cambridge Audio is not worth the attention.

thanks for the reply.

what do the buds pro & freebuds pro have over the enco x to have made you send them back?

the buds pro are significantly more expensive and I would have thought the freebuds pro and enco x are very similar?

cheers
