Well after a 1 week stint with the 325i's and returning them, I finally ordered the HF-1 tonight. Hopefully todd lets me know my number tommarow. Not prob comes the long wait... I just hope they don't hurt to listen to like the 325i

The SR225 and 325 sounded significantly different to me (in that the former didn't hurt my ears) so I hope the same goes for the HF 1. Good luck!

The HD 650 highs sound bright on my setup so they may not be the right choice for you if you want tamed highs.

It's hard to imagine HD650s being brighter than any non HP Grado on most setups. Can't speak on the HF1, though have one on order. Generally if you're sensitive to highs Grado may not be the best choice (though certainly as you've already found out stay away from 325/80/60).

you only spent 1 week with 325i? I let 325i play for an entire week non stop before I even put it on my head. Oh now so smooth sound of 325i...amazing to say the least...not harsh just smooth grado sound.

My HF-1s don't hurt to listen to. Being Grados, they do have a tipped up top end, but no particular instrument sticks out and calls attention to itself. In orchestral music, strings are over-emphasized relative to what they would be in a live performance, but they don't sound harsh or painful. So you might like the HF-1.

chesebert

Any chance to compare the soundstage/imaging between the 325i and HF-1?

Does the 325i larger air chamber create a "better" depth than the woody HF-1 driver housing or is it just an aesthetics purpose?

How far the left/right imaging differences between these two headphones assuming that both have the same driver matching to 0.05dB?

It was hard to let it grow on me when my ears actually HURT bad when listening. i burned in 24/7 and also got flats which helped a lot, but still a problem.

I ordered yesterday at like 5pm Central? still too late? I thought we had till the 30th

Well you're just too late for current processing. The deal isn't over, Grado is just playing catch-up with the unexpected number of orders for a week or two. The date has been extended past the 30th now because of the delay. You're fine, it may just take a bit longer.
