XB1000 cables are not detachable
Has the XB 1000 been discontinued (along with the XB 500, 700)? They still are not available on amazon.com

Just to throw a spanner in the works, the jvc fxz200 is the new bass king.
They punch lower and harder than my pro900's ever did.
What amplifier drove your pro900?
The XB1000 doesn't have THAT much bass, and has 2 spikes that caused me fatigue for areas such as trance and other electronic music. I returned them after a few days, grossly overrated and overpriced IMO. If you want bass and lots of it without the 2 horrible fatiguing spikes consider the XB500 . Going back to my beyer DT770/80s were such a welcome return.
Instead of the XB1000s also consider:
ATH-M50
D1100
LP, LP2, M100
Q40
Pro700mkII

i forget, what amp and source did you use your xb1000's on? because i have to believe the problem had to lie in bad synergy or a problem with your chain, because the way you feel about the xb1000's are so far contrary to what others feel that im at a loss for words
im not saying you dont really feel that way or actually encountered any of what you described, everyones ears are different, its that when u say things like spikes in the upper registers where most everyone else, myself included think its the opposite and that the highs are rolled off, it gives me a moment of pause

The fxz200 is in ear unfortunately
The XB1000 seems to be about $250 more expensive than the XB 500.Is it worth this premium?
