Has the XB 1000 been discontinued (along with the XB 500, 700)? They still are not available on amazon.com

XB-700 and 1000 are available in most stores in my country and plentiful. Only XB-500 is going out of stock. You can try either headphone.com or ebay. Ebay has lots of last I checked and it's safe as well if you look into high-rated and trusted sellers. Done most of my audio related purchases there.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, the jvc fxz200 is the new bass king.

They punch lower and harder than my pro900's ever did.

What amplifier drove your pro900?

The XB1000 doesn't have THAT much bass, and has 2 spikes that caused me fatigue for areas such as trance and other electronic music. I returned them after a few days, grossly overrated and overpriced IMO. If you want bass and lots of it without the 2 horrible fatiguing spikes consider the XB500 . Going back to my beyer DT770/80s were such a welcome return.
Instead of the XB1000s also consider:
ATH-M50
D1100
LP, LP2, M100
Q40
Pro700mkII

i forget, what amp and source did you use your xb1000's on? because i have to believe the problem had to lie in bad synergy or a problem with your chain, because the way you feel about the xb1000's are so far contrary to what others feel that im at a loss for words

im not saying you dont really feel that way or actually encountered any of what you described, everyones ears are different, its that when u say things  like spikes in the upper registers where most everyone else, myself included think its the opposite and that the highs are rolled off, it gives me a moment of pause

Just to clarify, they are very muddy and lack detail but have quite a bit of fatigue. If you look at the frequency response of the XB1000s you could see how bad they are. (And that they lack bass compared to the 700 and 500s) I've tried amping these on the o2 and essence ST. The o2 had more control of the bass, that was the only audible difference between the o2 and ST on these cans.

You will never get massive bass from the XB1000s without considerable eq. I highly suggest people avoid these headphones. I'm still bitter i had to pay the restocking fee for the XB1000s i had.

The fxz200 is in ear unfortunately

The XB1000 seems to be about $250 more expensive than the XB 500.Is it worth this premium?

Yea don't compare In ear to Over ear... ever. It's an ENTIRELY different bass all together. Iems and Over Ear Cans are not to be compared you derps <3

I like my Xb 700 with very FEW music. I've decided against owning an xb1000 OR a pro 900... don't need that much bass any more. I will however be getting the Dt 990 Pro 250ohms! As well as the dt 770... on the 770 I'm not sure if I want the 80 or 250 ohm... the 80 is a Closed 990 and the 250 is a closed 880 :/ [I need ioslation cans for on teh go and open cans at home] Non the less I'll proably get both eventually! But not for a few months... sadly the Wii U, 3Ds and New Monster Hunters for BOTH systems are draning my savings... so I can only afford one new can atm <3

but I think the Dt 990 should be good! I love the Control and impact of the 880, so to through another wrench in here... OPEN CAN BASS ftw <3
