I'm sorry for the confusion in my post. What I meant by cold boot is that when I first use the device after shutting it down. If I have just used the device the same day, I usually don't have any problems, but if I allow it to sit for a day or more, and then try to use it, the device will not allow me to get to play any music until I reboot the device, at least once. I seem to have no weather specific problems with the X7 Mk II. Thanks for the response.
Dear friend,

Would you mind a factory restore to see if it helps? Not sure it is a software or hardware problem currently. :frowning2:
If there are any certain operation or settings, you could also report to us for check.
Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

1 - I'm using the latest version of Tidal from the Play Store. They removed the crossfade option a while ago, but that didn't fix anything for me.
2 - I keep the X7 in my jacket, in a pocket at chest level. It's not going to get any closer to the headphones. Turning off wifi doesn't improve BT performance. I don't have this issue with any other BT audio playback devices.
Dear friend,
1. So maybe you could use the older version and enabling crossfade in Tidal settings and setting it to one second to see if it helps. We will also report to the engineer about that.
2. In order to ensure high-quality sound quality, our high resolution audio lossless playback portable music player, with full CNC aluminum alloy fuselage, have more stringent shield than the mobile phone.
When the player is placed in a pocket, the body blocks RF signals and absorbs them, which causing Bluetooth to be cut off.

You could try to turn the front panel of the X7MKII facing the body to see if it helps. :frowning2:

Best regards

Dear friend,

The new firmware would be released if everything goes well. We are still trying to improving the firmware currently.

My particular unit had shut down to the point where it wouldn't even power up at all, so I had to send it in to FIIO directly. During that time, the 1.06 came out and was factory installed by FIIO before sending it back to me in a repaired, boot-able state. It has always displayed the "cold boot issue" I had explained to you in my last post before the factory had it and ever since then. I am not blaming anything on anyone here, it's just that the device is buggy, as far as all of the users can tell, so I would rather get a new firmware. The time I had spent without the device the last time I had to send it to FIIO was over a month. I am hoping that a new firmware will fix the problem, and if it continues, I will then consider sending it back in to FIIO again. Thank you for your consideration in the matter.

EDIT: I tried to multi quote this response to my original post. The quote didn't show up. See post #5088

So now I could definitely and confidently confirm that player changed it sound signature after I upgraded from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6 firmware.
In 1.0.6 sound is brighter - and it is totally unacceptable for me. I just have a pain in my ears from this sound. It is too piercing for me.
I have tried to fix it with EQ - but it did not helped (overall quality was not good).
So I have found 2 methods - how to make old sound (preferable to me) back.
It is bad that if I will stick with 1.0.4 firmware I will be not able to get fixes for bugs, but it is anyway much better for me than have brighter sound signature.
Also if I will rely on some person from internet who applied his fix on top of Fiio firmware - I will be not able to be sure that he will not hacked my device in some way (as he is not official developer from Fiio company).

I want to share my experience on how to bring back old sound in case if you liked it more. In case if some other forum readers have similar issues with brighter sound signature:

Fix Fiio X7 mark 2 too bright sound signature guide (after upgrading from 1.0.4 firmware):

1st way - downgrade player to 1.0.4 firmware:
1) Download 1.0.3 firmware loader http://fiio-firmware.fiio.net/X7MKII Firmware Upgrade Tool with FW1.0.3.zip
2) Follow instructions from this Fiio page to install 1.0.3 firmware to your device http://fiio.net:8000/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41890
3) Upgrade device with over the air update from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4
Attention - your data inside player storage will be deleted - so make sure you copied all your music to flash card!

2nd way
- use some custom firmware that fixes the issue in 1.0.6:
1) Download and install modded firmware that fixes issue with bright signature
Example of such firmware and instructions how to install it could be found here: http://www.fidelizer-audio.com/fiio...6-released-with-bright-sound-signature-fixed/

@FiiO
Is there a plans to restore old sound signature (like it was in 1.0.4) in new 1.0.7 firmware?
Or in case if this is not possible: I think the best way to satisfy both kinds of users (users who like brighter sound and users who like warm sound) is to release 2 variations of the same firmware.
One with brighter sound. And second with more warm sound. So in this way I will have both - fixed bugs and warm signature that I bought from store and liked.

FYI @gazzington
