First, I can definitevely hear the ringing in your video.

I just finish to test my X7 again on my PC's: I did test all 24bits format from 44.1 to 192Khz, under Windows 10 (with all enhancement disabled and spatial sound disabled)
Desktop PC: ringing not present
Dell XPS 13: ringing not present

Can you please verify by plugging your X7 directly to your PC with original usb cable, I mean bypassing the dock?
Could you also please try another USB port?

That is how I changed the sample rates.

You mean I have to change the windows settings every time I hear music files with different sample rates?? :frowning2:

Thanks for the input!
I tried another USB port, no luck. I'll look for the original cable and get back to you this weekend.

Definitively yes if you are using Windows sound subsystem (like directsound).
I think it is possible to bypass this by using a player that talks directly to your X7 bypassing windows subsystem and for that I think you need something like foobar audio player setup with ASIO or WAZAPI.

Maybe someone can confirm this, I'm not in front of my PC

No I'm saying you set it to the rate you want and leave it. Also check settings in your DAC driver.

The new AM3B (with 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced socket and 3.5mm single-ended socket) and the BL44 cable (4.4mm male to 2.5mm female).

AM3B-1.JPG

As you can see from the picture, the size of AM3B is pretty the same as the older module (both are AM3A on the X7 mk2 and Q5) and thus it will fit the old case just fine.

The is the new transparent soft case that comes with AM3B

Hey guys I'm very late to the party and rather than scan through nearly 300 pages I was wondering if you can help me with a few questions .
I read a couple of comments on amazon etc. About x7ii hanging and a long boot up and was just wondering how the firmware is now in general as I'm considering buying.
Thanks for any help.

I have no such problems with my x7 II with the latest firmware. Boot time is typical android 5.1.

Ok, quoting myself

I can confirm using Kodi player setup with WASAPI that it bypass windows sound subsystem and sample rate setting, like ASIO with Foobar.
Using it that way FIIO X7 DAC sample rate is automatic.

But... unfortunately FIIO does support only 24bits, no 16 bits... which means most of the time resampling will be there unless we are playing 24bits high-res audio.

@FiiO: Why no 16bits DAC support?

I've had no success in solving this issue.... This is really, REALLY unsatisfying. I'm thinking about selling the DAP because of this issue...

(Tvhe video is in portuguese, but you'll get the idea as I swap sample rates)
In youtube:
in vimeo:

As you can all hear, there is this weird ringing on the test file. So I tried testing it with just music: there is a slight "ringing" as the windows bell sample, but there is a weird after noise that lingers behind the sounds... the transients are just so weird. This all goes away when I lower the sampling rate. (this happens with every test file I have, independent of its resolution)

No one else has had this ringing issue using the USB DAC @ 96kHz or higher sample rates? If I lower the sample rate I have no "ringing" problem but I have a serious lag issue. When I'm watching movies the sound is very off sync the explosions/speeches. I tried setting in every "USB Streaming Mode" option to see if this gets better. It does not solve the issue and if I use some options I get weird artifacts and "pops" instead of the "ringing".

This happens when I use docked on the K5 and normally connected via microUSB and using headphones. I have tested with my CIEM and my Hifiman Edition X v2.

No one here uses the X7ii as a USB DAC? Only as DAP??

FW: 1.0.5
USB driver: 4.11.0

Please help!!!

Hi! I was looking for the X7ii thread EXACTLY for the same issue.

I received the X7ii today. It is a really nice looking unit and it sounds great. I also bought the FH1 and use them with the balanced cable with the X7ii and I really like the combination.

I also tried the DAC mode of the X7ii and it is generally ok, except with hires FLAC files. When playing FLAC sampled at 96kHz I experience the same problem, with an annoying ringing.
The issue is there with both ASIO and DS output (I tried different settings in Win 10 with no difference). I also tried different albums (coded with libFLAC from 1.1.1 to 1.2.1), but like in the video also windows sounds have the artifact, and with different headphones. I had the issue also with 24bit 96kHz FLAC files, not only with 16 bit.
With my trusty DacMagic Plus the songs are played flawlessly and sound great.
I'm using a desktop PC and the X7ii is connected directly to USB with the original cable.

Downsampling eliminates the issue, but that is not the acceptable solution to this.

I hope it will be possible to solve this problem, as I was planning to use the X7ii also as a portable DAC when travelling with the laptop.

Thank god someone also detected the same issue as me...

I was wondering how was it possible that only I had this issue :s

Dear friend,

When choosing the ASIO output, the settings from sound of the Windows system would not affect the output from the foobar or other music software.
You would get the ringing sound when first play the 24bit 96kHz Flac file from the foobar, right? Did you try on other computer or usb ports as well? The other formats without the issue?

Best regards
