I was told this on the FiiO forum:

"We already fixed this song sort issue. Please try to update the FiiO Music app to version 3.4.1 on X7MKII after connecting with WiFi, or you could download the FiiO Music version 3.4.1:click here, then copy it to your X7MKII and install it."

What do you do with the downloaded file? FiiO missed that bit!

A member of the FiiO forum told me to just open the music app and it will ask you to update after a while. Why that was beyond FiiO's descriptive capabilities, I don't know.

That's how it worked for me. I was fiddling with the FiiO Music app in checking the song lists and it prompted me to do a patch/update. I don't recall the device rebooting or anything and was a quick process.

Very hard to answer that, each one of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, like every single product out there, there isn't anything that will be universal, and there will always be preferences.

I'd be like, please read my reviews, I tried to explain this in-depth there

DX200 and X7mkii for multiple AMP modules,
they all have similar battery lives in the long run
#2 and X7mkii display color calibration is similar, and fair, DX200 has a warmer / more neutral display color calibration (New Opus #1s also has a warmer color)
X7mkii is the least expensive, while #2 is the most expensive
As for the sound
X7mklii with AM03A, and DX200 with AMP1
- X7mkii and DX200 are both very neutral and reference, flat, #2 is organic and fuller sounding
with AMP5 for DX200, it becomes more organic and has more sparkle in the top end, than with AMP1
Software, DX200 works best with Lurker's mod, #2 does a good job out of the box, some X7mkii users met some issues, but works well as well, if you only do folder browsing

I need more time to judge AM05 for X7mkii

I think that overall, it really depends on your needs and which design you like more. The sound is amazing on all of them, but it is slightly different. All of them are recommended from my point of view, it will really really depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks for the comparison. I look at your site often, but it's nice to have your comparison between these three DAPs.

I've cancelled the DX200 order for now and will now look into if I can improve on the F9 I am currently using. I've tried the F9 Pro and although they were better, the bass wasn't as pronounced.

How to upgrade the FiiO Music app?

In the latest firmware of X7MKII-FW1.0.5, we have allowed the individual update of FiiO Music. There will be update push for the FiiO Music.

1. Online update
Connect to WiFi, open the FiiO Music and wait for a few seconds and the update notice will pop up. Click "install" to upgrade the FiiO Music directly.
If choose "Next prompt", it will skip the update for once and will pop up notice next time you open the FiiO Music app. If choose "Ignore", it will skip the update of this version.

2. Manual update
a. Set the player to storage mode and connect to computer, drag the downloaded FiiO Music (.apk) to the internal storage of your player.
b. Disconnect the connection and enter ES file manager, find the FiiO Music app in internal_sd and click install.

When the FiiO Music is successfully installed, you could go to FiiO Music>Setting>About APP>FiiO Music VXXX and find out the version of the app, for example FiiO Music V3.4.1

Dear friend,

Yes, we are sorry that we didn't confrim this issue before releasing that firmware.
You could install this FiiO Music for fixing this issue: http://fiio-file.fiio.net/FiiO Music3.4.1.apk

Best regards

Ok, thanks for your rapid response.

Now all is good again. I appreciate your updates. The software is getting better, no doubt.

I have on request: What would be really good, for me, would be the possibility of viewing albums in date added order. Either in Ascending or Descending order.

Then, as new albums are added, these can be easily focused upon.

Thanks for considering this.

Dear friend,

Currently, we may not add the feature you mentioned. The sorting according time is only available in playlists.

Best regards

I don't know anything about other music players, as I've always used FiiO's own, but if there are better ones out there, why is FiiO trying to reinvent the wheel?
Many think Neutron is the best music player and I agree. Give it a try. Fiio at first told us they would patch the DAP to let us chose the default pure music player then they later backed out. FIIO drop your efforts on playing around with your music player and use Neutron. It is very clear FIIO is clueless in developing software. Leave software development up to the pro's and center your efforts in hardware.

Lol, maybe they should just get an outsource software company to do the job.
In case you need it Fiio. We have one here :)
My Vote is FIIO use Neutron music player as default. It is the only one I could find that can playback in native resolution, DLNA, gapless, replay gain, network, sorting and most all features work perfectly. At least give us the option to use Neutron as the "default pure music player".

FiiO,
we experienced on-line update FiiO Music - it works! Excellent!
Now I vote for the following improvements:
1. Accelerate the opening of folders with a large number of files (I have> 3000). Now such a folder opens >15 sec + >15 seconds the selected track starts. File managers and other players open this folder very quickly.

2. Show album images when navigating through folders.

3. Allow users of FiiO Music to edit the skins and write a small manual on how to do it.

We hope and believe

Yes that´s right! Every owner of Fiio DAP should take it. Cost only ca. 6$ and it´s great!

Very interesting. Is there anything I need to do in settings to ensure native resolution with the X7ii?

Im giving the trial a whirl now. Nice player. Took me a while to get my head round how the search works. It's more like a spread sheet moving from cell to cell when it finds stuff :)

I've been using Gone Mad player recently, it's not bad at all, and gives you random album option, which is v cool. Can that be configured in Neutron?

Cheers!
