Just a guess, but i think it would cost money to change the design at this point. It's a design flaw imo, so I'll leave it at that. There must be a good reason zero current smartphones (correct me if I'm wrong) have raised glass like the X7.

The iphone 6 does have a protruding camera module, same as the Oppo R7 too. They could make the phone slightly bigger and cram in a bigger battery, but chose not to in order to maintain the thinness.

True, but they wouldn't do that with the front screen and the edge of the camera lense is protected, no?

One can argue that it's easier to scratch the back rather the front of the phone/device:

1) I place my phone on its back much more often than one its front.

2) Even if the edge is protected, the centre portion, the most important part, is not (but of course, you can't cover up the middle portion lol)

3) It's easier to get a good screen protector for the front than the back.

This turns out to be a non issue for most iphone users since they used their iphones with a case anyway.

Personally, I will see myself using the FiiO X7 anyway. While the raised screen is less than ideal, it will not affect my decision on whether to get it or not, only how it sounds will.

Of course, if the raised screen is a deal breaker for you, then I think you'll have to look for a new dap.

You're probably right, it is too late (and expensive!) for FiiO to change the design of their X7 in any way if they still want to meet their rollout schedule. For all we know, FiiO already have a secret stash of X7 assembled and ready to be shipped out.

I'm not sure if this question had already been answered, but could you install 3rd party applications like wimp/tidal since the system is based on android?

I really hope to see Fiio wipe the floor with AK with this release.
Having 901 and DX90 I can't really justify another DAP. My next dap will be a stripped down audiophile machine, no wifi, Bluetooth, apps etc , if anyone ever makes one.

Same here (justifying another DAP part).
If it turns out to be X5 sound with extra features, I'll pass (there's nothing wrong with X5 technically but it lacks the magical, emotional analog sound of 901).
But if it's close to 901 in terms of sound, I'll sell all my DAPs and jump on the x7 bandwagon right away. 901 with proper built quality and streaming capability (TIDAL) is my dream DAP.

this is another version, which included a mini nuclear batter so the battery life is 100 years.
