Changes from version 1.15:
1. Addition of support for DSD decoding (.DSF and .DFF files, up to DSD64)
2. Rewrote lossy formats (e.g. mp3) decoding to remove mp3 and ogg vorbis artifacts and increase decoding resolution to 32bit.
3. Addition of external OTG storage support.
4. New UI for file browsing and selection of songs by category.
5. Player's screen will now turn off after the predefined screen timeout interval when charging.
6. Fix for issues with the X5 not being recognized upon connection to computers.
7. Numerous other bug fixes.

 
Awesome, this is what I am asking for in my soon-to-be-released review! Will this also be done when using the X5 as an USB DAC?

FW1.21 Beta working well for me so far.  DSD appears to be OK but there a few things I will check with Joe before I am sure.
 
Great to see FiiO moving quickly on updates.  Keep going guys... this is good value stuff.

It was stable to begin with and now fw changes regularly slatted, for some, it could be the end of the chase. The price versus functions/features/sq is definitively hard to beat and impossible to criticize. For so many it will be the dap to own replacing their current aging gear. As soon I powered on and listened to the player, I knew they were onto something. It's refreshing to watch how fervent and dedicated the Fiio team is, fantastic execution!

Hi noobandroid, everything looks fine to me. I only look at statements of objective fact about the X5 in my review of you guys' writeups of the X5 and those are fine in your writeup. Not that there are many such statements (your writeup focuses more on your subjective impression of the X5 and its sound and that's fine )

Call for gift ideas for X5 previewers!

Firstly I'd like to thank all the previewers on this tour again on behalf of FiiO. Although you guys got to audition a new product before its launch, you had to take time to write a review on it and pay to ship to the next previewer. We would like to show our thanks for your effort with a memorable gift

And here's where I get stuck To avoid accusations of previewer bias, the gift cannot be too substantial or as direct as a discount for a retail X5. I do however want everyone to come away happy with the gift

There's a wide selection of accessories that will be available for the X5 (the pic at the top shows multiple color options for the stock silicone case)

and I believe it will be fine for those previewers who would like to buy an X5 to pick and choose one of these accessories as a complementary gift for the reviewership.

However, not everyone who was a previewer will buy an X5 For those other previewers I was thinking of a FiiO T-shirt signed by James, but it seems they've run out of T-shirts
