I have the ODAC/O2 and I did a comparison with the X5. For portable use, yeah the X5 would be better, but the ODAC/O2 sound way more transparent to me. The X5 sounds coloured in a direct comparison: more bass, slight treble roll-off, funky upper-midrange/lower treble thingamabob, narrow soundstage.

I hear a bass emphasis too. The X5's DAC portion adds some warmth compared to all the other DACs I have at hand.

 

Well I guess it takes trained ears to hear some of the nuances you hear goodvibes, because I could not detect a hair of difference between gapless on and off in terms of transparency. I do find the 901 tad more refined, but not impressed by the AK120.

 

 
I could be mistaken, but I'm reasonably certain the sound signatures of 1.0 and 1.1 are identical.

 

Could be. I only heard 1.1. It's on it's way to the next guy.

 

 The gapless is very subtle and better than most. When it comes to preference, to each his own.

 

OK, now album after artist as you guys need. X5 will supports this feature when it is global launch.

I believe there are quite a lots of member in here can read and write Chinese, and the artist ( 周杰伦 Jay Chou ) is the famous star singer in China, Hong Kong and Taiwang.

Fantastic! This will make library browsing so much better. I keep using the X5's file browser now. 

 

Thank you for listening to our feedback.  This was the one thing keeping me from making the X5 my next DAP.  I now will buy a X5 as soon as it is released in the United States.

 

That's a great idea, offer custom scroll wheel decals!   Make them textured too which will help when using the wheel.

Am testing the X5 now; current impression is great sound but the UI needs more work >_<
