Thanks for the answer. My DAC is RME ADI-2 Pro.
Until FW 1.1.9 it was all ok. (Skipped 1.2.0)
But with 1.2.1 no sound output.

Come back to 1.1.9 (resetted to 1.1.1 + factory reset and then installed 1.1.9)
No problem. I enjoy anyway my X5 III Gen.
Cheers
Dear friend,

Thanks for the kind feedback. We will report to the engineer for checking about that.

Best regards

The Dsd files on X5iii sound not as loud or powerful as their mp3 versions of the same song on X5iii. On Cayin N3 due to dsd gain compensation set to 6 db same dsd files would be louder. With no Dsd gain compensation is it normal for dsd files to sound not as loud on x5iii. Has anybody experienced the same?

Dear friend,

The development tools and codes we're using are provided by Rockchips, among them might include some GPL or other open source software. According to the GPL agreement, we could share part of these codes with our users and third parties. However, we need to come to agreement with our scheme suppliers. Please leave your contact to us.Actually our scheme suppliers had shared the codes on their website or github. Please kindly go check it out.

Since iOS 10.3, Apple has disabled the use of uncertified USB DAC devices. So you may not be able to use the X5 as a DAC for iOS11.3.1.

Best regards

Many thanks for this. A good technical reply is always much appreciated. Here's my feedback:

1) GPL - My contact is: jkbuha@protonmail.com - feel free to share the details over there. Regarding the rest of the rockchip code, I have checked out some of their source but unfortunately it's not directly relevant and/or I can't fully build the FiiO kernel yet. Ideally there would be a full github repo where you can build the kernel from scratch and/or add a patchset as required. The FiiO kernel would definitely benefit from leaner schedulers (cfq is not bad, but there are much better ones optimised for audio/video), and the ability to undervolt/overclock to ensure a smoother, cooler experience.

2) iOS - I wasn't aware of this, and am quite disappointed (at Apple). However doing some background research I've discovered a few workarounds, though (most of them) involve jailbreaking the iOS device, which is a shame. At least there's the option if you're prepared to get technical...

Could be different mastering or different recording levels. I've often noticed this with DSD files. Plus they don't tend to be brick-walled.

Hi,
Long time lurker here. Go easy..

Anyone had this issue? I use Foobar as my player and it's always been fine but since updating to the latest firmware, if I use the side buttons they either a) don't work at all or b) it pauses Foobar and then it just starts playing using the Fiio player, whichever track that was last playing. I have to then quit the Fiio player and the buttons don't work on the Foobar app.

Any ideas? I've tried a reboot, but not sure what else to try. I have the Resume option switched off in the Fiio app.

I've used Foobar off and on with the FIIO and usually it works for a bit and then starts to do crazy stuff. Mostly it fails to recognize both memory cards. I went back to using FIIO player which has sorting issues but beyond that works the best of all the players I've tried.

another long time lurker. I find the Fiio music app temperamental to say the least. Sometimes restarting after a pause by going back for no apparent reason to the first song played on that session. sometimes just forwarding to the next song half way through current song. I am using HiBY currently and it has been pleasingly simple and fault free.

UNTIL the other day when something odd started happening. I am paired via Bluetooth with Bowers & Wilkins headphones. If I stop the music and lower the headphones from my ears and then try to play again the player skips through songs at ultraspeed and within 10 seconds it has skipped through 3 or 4 songs as if it i splaying them at 5-10x the speed. Any ideas anyone?

I’ve noticed this happens on occasion to me too. I suspect it has something to do with the cards becoming unmounted during standby or some other device-specific fault because the stock app is known to crash or resume on a random song after idling. Why the cards don’t stay mounted is beyond me but so far the only fix I’ve found has been to close and reopen the app. Some fix, I know.

Dear friend,

You did not exit the FiiO Music APP before powering off, right? Then after restart, it would return to the first song played on that session or forward to the next song half way through current song? Are you using the Android mode? If yes, please try to exit the FiiO Music app first before turning off. Does the isse with your Bluetooth happen when using other APPs as well?

Best regards

Dear friend,

We will consider about adding the dsd gain compensation in later update.

Please do. That would be very nice. And if it is possible, what are the chances of having a firmware update that allows individual songs to save and remember digital filters/eq applied on them so that we don't have to switch settings again and again

HiByLink of HiBy Music is very useful.
I remotely operate from HiBy Music on iPhone with HiByLink. :)
However, it works with Wi-Fi, but it does not work with Bluetooth.
Also HiBy Music is not enable avoid Android SRC, so it will be play at 16bit/48kHz or less.
Except for that, I think HiBy Music is one of the best music applications.
