If you are looking to save some money instead of the chord mojo you might want to try the fiio A5 amp, it goes great with the X5 3rd gen and much cheaper

I use this combo at home with my hifiman edition x v2 and with my isine 10 when I am out both sound very good

I’ve tried it is very good. Recently got the ifi idsd nano black label though and it’s better. If the usb out is already available may even sell my a5.

I have paired the Mojo and X5 III and it's quite good as you would expect, Mojo sounds like a more refined x5 in everyway, they both have really lush mids but there is simply more detail and better timing with Mojo. Hope this helps.

I want to love my new FiiO X5 III, and mostly do. Two issues though:

When the unit goes to sleep, fully charged, some times it is still at about 95% when waking the next day. 2 out of 3 times, though, it seems to sleep with a full charge and 18 hours later won't wake up until I long press the power button and it reboots, then reporting 1% battery. Doesn't seem normal to me?

Second issue: I've got 2 300gb cards in the unit, both nearly full, about 9.5K FLAC songs. Using Fiio Player, a handful (that I've discovered so far) are completely silent even thow the progress bar shows playing and the time counts up. The VU meter reads zero. As an example, I have the Neko Case 7-album box collection at 96/24. 96 songs in the 'box set'. Most are silent, but all the songs from the collection's album 'Furnace Room Lullaby', play just fine.

I'm trying to use the X5 in Pure Music mode. I downloaded the Onkyo Hi Res Player app on the Android side, and when using that, the Neko Case silent songs play just fine.

I have Firmware 1.1.8 running.

Sound is great on the songs that play...Any thoughts?

Thanks.

For those that have the X5iii & Mojo and uses Tidal, does Tidal output bit perfectly or is Android upscaling it beforehand? (e.g. when the source file is 96Khz the power ball is green, whereas Android tends to upscale it to whatever frequency Blue is)

Thanks,

Pete

It's bit-perfect but you should use the coax digital out and not the USB OTG.
