Guess it depends if your other DAPS are using multiple clock chips to improve sound quality or not and if the DACs they use require to be reset when changing clocks.
My guess is they might be able to mute the amps to mask it but that would make gapless more gapy.

I think it has been tweeked a little over previous releases, I'm rarely in a quiet place with sensitive enough headphones to here it and yet to plug it into an amp/speaker setup.

Is that also found in fiio x7ii, as to me hearing clicks is not a big deal, but of course i prefer not to hear those clicks

@FiiO greetings when connecting the fiio x5ii on firmware 1.18 to an external amp through the line out, I always hear a tiny sound of a click between songs on the left channel of my iems or headphones, I tried different amps and cables and still its the same, also tired resetting the dap, and gapless is on

can you please look at this
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. When collecting the headphone directly to the line out of the X5III without any AMPs, will you hear the tiny sound as well?
Best regards

I'm running in to some issues this AM. for the first time, I'm trying to use the Coax-out into a Maverick Audio D1 DAC. No sound at all. when I swap out the FIIO for the iBasso, sound comes through fine.

Anyone else having issues with this?

Also, since upgrading the firmware a few weeks ago, I've experienced several crashes, and now when I try to manually scan the SD cards, the Scan screen appears, but no progress and the OKAY button does not respond. I have to reboot to cancel the operation.

Fun times!!!!
Hi,

Please check whether you use the correct cable and the sampling rate is supported by your DAC device?
If you select a certain folder for scaning, can the progress work?
Best regards

Probably, but it is not really intended for this. The impedance of that output is not good for headphones and it is not designed to output much power.
If you have it set for fixed output, no volume control...

Why would you want to do this?

I guess I didn't read the preceding description of the "issue". In any case, using a line out from any device for driving headphones is not such a good idea.
Best case, it sounds like crap, worst case you blow a driver.

Now I read that FIIO suggested this. Shaking head... my advice still stands.

At least, make sure the line out is set to variable and start with the volume low and work up.

Hi,
We just want to confirm the issue is because of the X5III or the A5. But yes, I am really sorry for not reminding setting to adjustable volume at LO first.:disappointed_relieved: Should pay attention next time, thanks.
Best regards

I recently picked up the hifiman edition x v2 and have been playing it off my fiio x5 3rd gen paired with my a5 amp and it sounds amazing - using it at home and at work. Adele and Paul Simon have never sounded better, its hard for me to use my isine 10 now - but they also sound great of this fiio combo

If you're willing to go secondhand, I'm sure you can find a price that is a real bang for buck.

Right now on the for sale/trade forum you can get a mint X5III black for $299 (I bought mine secondhand for the same price and I cannot argue with that value.)

Just sold mine around for that price. To be honest, if your deal is a separate DAP (I went for the lg v30) then the x3 or x5 is your best bet. The x3's sound is superb.

I tried connecting the earphone directly to Line Out.
Even then I can hear click noise.
I hear click noise on both Phone Out and Line Out. FW 1.1.8.
Also, I can hear click noise clearly by tap the pause button rather than between songs.

FiiO, can not you check click noise yourself ? I think that such experiments should be confirmed by the manufacturer.
I can't so much accept that the manufacturer instructs the user to directly connect the earphone to Line Out.

Hi,
Are you having the same issue like the previous user? As he mentioned that the noise happens on the left channel.

And here is a small explaination about the slight crackle that occurs occasionally during playback:
It is one of the HiFi audio players' core features to support different types of music formats and sampling rates. And each time when the DAC chip change the sampling rates, it will need to reset itself, which can cause a slight crackle in the sound. This problem cannot be totally prevented, unless converting all the songs to the same format and sampling rates before playing them (just like what the Apple iTunes will do). But doing this will make the HiFi player lose its biggest advantage.

Is it the reason of your issue? Sorry if bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

I understand the above.

I don't really care about this problem.
Since you were request that result of connecting headphones directly to Line Out, I just tried it and reported result.

So I have become a Tidal user with the X5 and love it...mostly. A few questions as I am listening to I Robot by APP. When it saying Hi-Fi is this 16 or 24 sample? Is there any hope for gapless soon? And I frequently experience clutching with WiFi that happens between songs that is fixed by restarting the track, any thoughts on this?
My dream would be to connect a DragonFly Red and listen to MQA masters.
