What was your question? Smooth scrolling experience is what I'm hoping for from the touch wheel plus better reliability and longer life. What more can you ask for? Personally I find even the mechanical wheel scrolls fast enough when I'm searching for something so if it doesn't have accelerated scrolling it's fine with me.

Not when you have over 10,000 songs .

How can you listen to 10,000 songs? I've got about 3000 on mine which works out to be about 160 albums. any more than that and I wouldn't be able to listen to everything as often as I want.
FiiO has the new X1 on their website now...what color to choose? black or silver...maybe both? I wonder what stores will have them for preorder...I haven't seen any yet.

@JamesFiiO Well, the more I think about it, the more I do believe I'm sold on buying an X1ii. This'll be my 4th Fiio Dap, the first one (X3) was sold in order to justify buying the second the 1st gen X5. I've almost bought the first X1 several times, but just couldn't justify the cost, but I think now I can't find a reason not to give the new version a try.
And to think I just bought my 1st gen X1 a few weeks ago

That's a drag. I had two X1s but just sold my older one on eBay..I figure two DAPs is enough to own. (after I buy the new X1) I read the estimated price of the new X1 will be $120USD.
New to all this. Can the new x1 be used as a standalone dac or amp like the x3?

1. Thanks for the info! Will watch out for them.
2. The firmware is very decent as it is now so migration to Linux might still make the operation smoother. I still hope that song titles in All Songs are shown in the future if you can manage to address it. Song titles only show in the currently playing track, not in the All Songs category.
@JamesFiiO - 3. Here's the last page of the firmware thread, with some comments regarding the battery warning prompt. To be perfectly clear, battery quality is not the issue. It's very decent and goes for hours as specified. It's just that the low battery warning is quite invasive at times - http://www.head-fi.org/t/781372/official-x1-stable-firmware-discussion-thread-version-2-0-added-library-search-function-recently-played-playlist-replaygain/165
Thanks!

Hi, simonfred
The new X1 can't be used as a DAC for the computer like the X3.

The website says it supports alac and aac. Is that new? Do the current X1 and X3II support those?
