FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

The Q7 has been a nifty device! Plenty of power by itself on-the-go, and serves as an exceptional DAC or Amp in a desktop rig. I prefer my Pontus II DAC in my main desktop setup, but the versatility here is hard to beat. Even UAC1 functionality for 3D Audio from my PS5!

My Pendant tube amp has a pelican case, and I was able to make a perfectly-sized cutout for the Q7, so I have a full-on transportable desktop rig for when I visit friends/family! Fantastic!

Thanks.
2.Filters work normally on BTR2021 , but here switching does not affect anything . On what filter who prefers to listen? Who has the same problem?
3.FH9 works perfectly on other devices. Problem only with Q7 in ULTRA mode.

There are thoughts that the problem is in the power supply. He looks doubtful. Ordered PL-50. Will it improve the sound and remove the buzz?
Got PL-50.
There is no noise with him. Everything is perfect.
There is noise (50 Hz) only with FH-9 headphones and with attached switching power supply from the box in Ultra High Gain mode.

I just got the Q7 (a frustrating day late since the USPS carrier for some reason stated the he/she could not access the delivery location yesterday) and have a couple of operational questions if anyone could help:

Is there anyway to keep the screen on all the time (I know the timeout length is adjustable, but I don't see an option to turn it off; completely) and, if so, is there any negatives for doing so, like shortened screen life? (I'm planning to use the Q7 pretty much exclusively in DC mode, so battery life is not an issue.)

Is there a mute function? I don't see one.

Dear friend,

1. The screen could not be set to on all the time. '30mins' is the longest option. Keeping the display on without operation may reduce the life of the display.
2. We will report to the product manager for assessing the mute function you mentioned for the Q7.

Best regards

I keep wanting to send it back. I've had the m15 and the Gryphon both a couple of times. Timbre and tone are exceptional on the m15, but dynamics are a bit reserved. Gryphon has better sound stage than the m15, but the Burr Brown is more colored / warmer for sure. My goto are u12t's. Every time I go back to (usb-c power only) to the Q7, the clean sound, dynamics and stage are simply all there. I want to have a cheaper setup, but now I can't get it outta my head. It's a brick, for sure, but it is a fantastic combo to the 64Audio IEMs, which are super forgiving to source, but they don't ignore a bit when fed better. So, here I am stuck with this brick that I keep loving more all the time. As a note, I wouldn't recommend DC power for IEMs. Even though the U12ts aren't the most sensitive, I still keep in the 40's level gain and it's plenty. At times with other amp/dacs the m15 apex can be slightly loose in the bass department, though, for me, the quantity is pretty much where I want it. The Q7, IMO, tightens it up perfectly, keeping the quantity full.

I admit that I like it loud and my old ears are not the best. Not sure what you mean by "level" gain, but with the Thieaudio Monarch MKII (which I believe are the same sensitivity as the U12T but a bit higher impedance) and the Q7 I use DC power, high gain, and (depending on content and mood) volume generally between 50 and 70. I'm still more a full size open headphone guy and listen more often with the much less sensitive Hifiman Arya Stealth, using Ultra High gain and volume in the same range. FWIW, I'm powering the Q7 with FiiO's PL50 linear power supply.

@FiiO I have an ask for future FW - show on the display in addition to the sample rate also bit depth. There's lots of content out there with both 44.1/16 and 44.1/24, these +8 bits do make a difference.
Dear friend,

In USB mode or which input mode? We will report to the engineer for assessing first.

Best regards

I just published my audio blog review about Fiio Q7 in Hungarian:
http://audiofilblog.blogspot.com/
Just use Google Translate to read it in English.
Q7 is the best sounding "portable" audio player both in wired and wireless modes.
My only complain is the very ugly and big case...
Q7 because of more features, and taking into account the use of a charge time, so the whole product is relatively large.
The interior also uses a stacked board process, space utilization has been relatively high, but there is room for optimization.

We will try to reduce the size of subsequent models
Thank you very much for your support! :beerchug:
