I would imagine that the difference is that the x series is full android and able to use the play store (at least) and in the case of the 7, swoppable amp units.

The X1 and X3 don't have android

Both are fast and responsive but the M9 somehow feels smoother.

Gents, AFAIK the answer to this was announced by FiiO quite some time back. There will be no further addition to the X-series line as all future players (until FiiO change their minds again) will fall under the M line

Hey James any info on the SRC while using 3rd party apps?

there are a FiiO logo on the fron and it can display what kind of format it is play now, as you can see I am using a 3rd part music app in China and it show it is playing hi-res music right now so don't worry about this issues anymore.

if there are any SRC, the logo will display blue light.

I don't think you can install apps. It just has some preinstalled streaming apps.
