Hi to all,

Do you believe that Fiio m9 can handle well HD600 through the balanced output or an amp is needed?

Many thanks

Balanced out with turbo on (77mW into 300 ohms) = more than enough power for HD600

Hey guys (and @FiiO), having trouble trying to set up Fiio Link between my iPhone 7 and M9. For some reason I can only get the iPhone and M9 to pair when I have Personal Hotspot set to ‘on’ on the iPhone. Without this, the two try to pair, connect, and then almost immediately drop the connection.

I assume Fiio Link won’t work unless the two are paired? In Fiio Music on the iPhone I also assume starting Fiio Link is done via the Settings -> BT Control option, is that right? When I select that, it looks for Fiio devices, but even when paired in Personal Hotspot mode the M9 doesn’t show up on the iPhone.

What am I doing wrong?

M9 drives my ATH R70X to quite reasonable listening levels so i could imagine that it wont have problems driving HD 600 (300 ohm vs 470 ohm).

@FiiO
In FiiO Music when you seek/fast forward into a track you cannot hear the progress so you do not know when to stop. In Neutron MP for example you can hear your progress.
Can you possibly look into this and fix it?
You can see what I mean here:

Help, could somebody or @FiiO please tell mie where the L+, L-, R+, R- is with the 2.5 mm balanced?
I bought an 2.5 mm male to 3.5mm female adapter in hope to use my 3.5 mm balanced cables from my Mitchell & Johnson MJ2 and my Hifiman. But I only hear one channel. So obviously the configuration is different to the Sony NW-ZX2. Or is the adapter faulty?

see https://fiio.com/productinfo/9514.html

Cheers... Brian

I just ordered the M9 to go with my newly acquired Sennheiser PXC 550s. Since the M9 is Android based is it possible to install Captune on it or otherwise get the functionality of Captune's EQ for the files/music on the M9?

This sort of misinformation really peeves me.

Redbook 16/44.1 delivers a dynamic range of 96 dB - which covers the range of human hearing. With dithering, you can increase that to 120 dB. What is dynamic range? Its the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds (ie musical peaks and the noise floor). If a quiet room has a noise floor of ~30 dB, then the 104 dB they measured means a range of 30-134 dB. IE - any noise floor is completely and utterly inaudible (masked by the music which is playing).

These guys quote these numbers but give no idea of what is audible.

And this bit is just laughable:

Inaudible is inaudible. Playing high-res instead of redbook won't make a jot worth of difference.

Most of music (especially metal, electronic, pop) has less than 10 dB of dynamic range anyways :)

I've been able to work through or around most of my early issues but there are a few things I can't seem to figure out.

1. Syncing playlists:
a. Is there a specific location that the .m3u playlist files from my PC need to be saved? I can see the files in SD Card > Playlists, and I did a music scan just to be sure, but those playlists aren't showing up in FiiO Music at all. I also tried .m3u8 files.
b. Does anyone know where the playlists that are created on the device are saved? I tried to find that location on the SD Card and in internal memory to try to save the playlist files there, but couldn't find it.
c. Playlists created on the device are not syncing back to MediaMonkey even though I have it set up to import playlists from the device.

2. Syncing metadata from the M9 to MediaMonkey; such as last played and play count. When I sync the M9 (again, I have the appropriate option selected in MM), I'm not seeing play counts or last played dates changing.

3. I've also noticed that there are some albums that are in the folder structure of the M9, but aren't showing up in the FiiO Music app at all. I scanned for songs and they still aren't showing up. I double checked to ensure they were a supported file type.

I've rebooted to see if that changes anything for each of these issues and it hasn't.

I'm new to the high res digital audio game, so any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks!

@FiiO
reg. FiiO music app. The scrolling of artist / title does not work. For example. When I try to pick a title from a album, the scrolling for title is not on / not working. Maybe, the non- existing scrolling while picking a file @database is not correctly working (in every case)

@RowBearToe
Do you have tagged the files with MP3Tag for example? The database is working with tags

Dear friend,

The external playlist could not be added to the playlist category of the FiiO Music. But you could view them from folder browser of the FiiO Music instead.
Those album could not be shown up can be played from folder browser or not? If yes, could you view the music files from all music category?

Best regards

Dear friend,

However, even if you could hear the progress, the music will be distorted when it is fast forward. So we may not consider about that currently.
