I don’t see that screen layout on my M9? I’d like to know how get the MD to ‘point to’ the SD card vs internal memory? I keep getting a msg that indicates my storage space is running out.

Dear friend,

The APPs are installed in the internal storage. So you could try to uninstall some APPs you don't need to see if it helps.
You could go to Settings -> General -> Apps, locate and click on the app that you want to uninstall, and then click the 'UNINSTALL' icon.

Best regards

Has anyone found a way to make the song names scroll from right to left when the song name is too long for the width of the screen.

There are quite a few folders that have a naming system that has the first few words take up the space before the actual name of the song so I need to click on each to see the entire name. I can’t seem to find any other text options that cater to longer song names?
Dear friend,

If you would like to read the whole name of the long title music files, would you mind slide left from the track title and select the 'i' icon for help?

@FiiO
I have another question for a 3rd party music player alternative.
In my mind one of the best Android music player is the gonemad player -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gonemad.gmmp&hl=en_US
The development is very good and the developer is very fast to fix issues. For normal audio files such MP3 / FLAC, ogg etc. pp best support with gain control, limiter, EQ, X-Fade, replay-gain, playback speed & pitch control, gapless playback (FLAC AND MP3 (perfect gapless) and many, many more. I don't know if the player can play HiRes audio files - but for normal audio files it's the perfect alternative player.
I miss many things in your FiiO music app such a better EQ, balance via BT, a better database sorting etc. pp. That's the reason why I prefer 3rd party music player.

Can you check this app for your white list please? I ordered a M9 today and it would be great to have a perfect hardware device in combination with a perfect 3rd music player app.

@JamesFiiO

Please consider whitelisting the EarStudio App to control eq on its ES100 BT receiver device..

Thank you

Dear friend,

We have recorded the APP you reported.

The engineer will check the feasibility of adding it to the white list first.

But in order to ensure the stability for the M9, most APPs may not be added to the white list.

Best regards

Dear @JamesFiiO
Would you kindly examine the Hi-Fi cast app and test it on the M9. On it you can select media servers and of major importance..... Playback Devices. It finds my Airplay Box, my Casting Box, my UPnP speaker, my Google speaker, my Jam speaker, basically everything. I really support the M9 and only want to see it become everything it can. So even if it's purely out of kindness please check out the app to see it's feasibility for whitelisting. For anyone wanting to play to their HiFi over WiFi it's a must have app.
In anticipation
Regards
Steve

Apologies for the silly question but....

I’m considering buying this for both FLAC files and Spotify.

Everyone is mentioning streaming with Spotify and I note that I’ll be able to load Spotify onto the M9.

My question is ‘will this device allow me to download Spotify playlists / albums onto the MicroSD card for offline listening?’ I subscribe to Spotify and currently use an aging iPod Classic for the music I own and use an iPhone for offline Spotify listening. If the M9 will indeed allow me to download Spotify files then I think it’s a good solution for me but, if it’s streaming only, there’s not much point for my purposes.

Is Spotify loaded onto the M9 as a side loaded App or ? Sorry confused on how you play Spotify on the M9?

You can download Spotify from FiiO news (support) on your PC and sideload from your PC. Spotify, allegedly, would not let their app be pre-loaded on the M9. Spotify works well on the M9 in my opinion.

As a note to the public. Just did Daiyama's test and was not able to confirm any crackling on my M9 or when listening locally. Tested myself with a Hifiman Sundara with M9 at High Gain and volume at 115. Wifi and BT Off and no other apps running.

Might be a defective device, improper settings, digital file corruption at some point, SD Card issues, or headphones used and their electrical properties/pairing with M9.

Too many factors to isolate.

Try resetting and defaulting settings with NO wireless enabled (Wifi or BT) and with various other headphones?

Found it!

Cracking sound were also with bluethooth speakers and with another head phone (wired).
Therefore I reseted the M9 and did nothing but scan for music. No update, no further settings. Now the cracking sounds were gone!
Strange.
So it had to be a setting (or the update, but this I ruled out because it is quite unlikely) which I did after starting the M9 and I found that it is the Replay gain function which I usually switch on as I have quite different recorded albums. So replay gain seems to cause overrides in certain situations. Which is strange as I use replay gain also with my squeezebox and there are no cracking sounds with the files in question.
It would be great if you could confirm this by testing my files with replay gain (by album) on.
THX!

A big THANKS to you!
Please tell me the show stopper, if the app is not added to the white list. I will get in touch with the developer to check possible problems / issues...maybe he can solve possible issues in future....

You download the APK onto the SD Card and then install it with the FiiO's built in file explorer.

You get the APK either by finding it online or getting an older but verified stable verision from FiiO's website

Looks like it.
But Replay Gain seems to be not hundert percent completly correct implemented as this should not happen.
Probably FiiO will fix that in a future firmware. Until then, I can live with that. :L3000:

You'd be surprised lol. Even with large AAA companies, the amount of crap they mess up because they copypasta features and open source technologies without validating is astounding.

For the last few days my M9 has regularly come up with the notification that there is a system update to firmware version 1.0.3. When I double tap and go to the firmware upgrade page and try to upgrade it tells me I already have the latest version. This has happened about ten times or more. Anyone else getting this?

Hello. If anyone is using the m9 with an iPhone with the lightning to usb 3 adapter do the colours on the m9 still change from blue to purple or yellow depending on the track?

I have tried to use VOX as well as pass through with Plex on the iPhone and the USB 3 adapter with 192 files and it still shows blue in the fiio indicator.

Would this indicate that somehow the iPhone is still downgrading the digital signal or does the m9 is dac mode only show blue without any other colour changes?

The chart indicates that if it’s over 48k it changes to yellow but it’s always blue.

Thanks in advance if you are familiar with this setup.
