@FiiO and Anyone Else

Is there any possibility of a future whitelisted APK app that could be used as a GLOBAL EQ. To explain: It would be a solid multiband EQ that affects any sound coming out of the active (balanced or SE) headphone jack. In a perfect world, this GLOBAL EQ APK app would have savable EQ presets that could be named for each set of headphones. I'm not sure if it's possible and if an app even exists but in my opinion if so, it would be a HUGE PLUS for this device. It'd be fantastic!

As far as I know, the M9 can't multitask because its processor is too low powered and it doesn't have much RAM on board (<1GB). So by design, no app can run "in the background" while other apps are running. Hence no music from Tidal, for example, while doing "other stuff" with the M9 interface or other apps. So a universal EQ, however useful, won't work with the M9. Here's hoping for a Fiio dap with the same form factor and interface but enough power to get it to do the things almost any smartphone can easily do today.

Great point and thanks for the clarification. I now remember reading from FiiO that it can't multitask. Currently, I'll keep on with my current method. EQ in the FiiO music app and use the EQ in Spotify when running these 1000mx3's to knock down the bass depending upon where I source the music from.

"Hiby Music" on android has the best equalizer I know, it would be nice to be able to install this APK since it is one of the best (or the best) player on android systems and it's free.

My understanding is that Hiby's EQ is basically Viper Tools...would be great to have it on the M9, though Fiio's equivalent of the R6 is their X7 II.

Got my M9 the other day and just wanted to say that I am enjoying this more than my Hiby R3. This still suffers from LDAC issues when wifi is turned on, but I can download Tidal tracks for offline listening. The R3 never delivered on this promise.

This still suffers from LDAC issues when wifi is turned on, but I can download.......

I still like mine but find myself wanting a DAP that works better with Qobuz.

Gripes

Thr M9 is clearly underpowered and works slowly

192k Qobuz downloads all have crackle issues

I can't seem to delete downloaded music I have in Qobuz. (I accidentally downloaded several playlists and now I have hundreds of crappy songs I dont want I am unable to delete for my device. Any idea how to find & delete them?)

Fii0 have not responded with fixes for any of the above.

So far none of the more upto date android DAPs models have LDAC. So it's a waiting game for me.

M9 is the only slow and buggy game in town for me. I still love it.

Perhaps I could forget LDAC and settle for an AtpX HD dap. Is there one that runs android / audio apps like Qobuz well?

Could not find anything specific how to do it in the manual: http://user-guide.fiio.net/M9_Complete_User_Manual-EN.pdf

It says that it is also USB audio output but not how.

Okay, I can confirm that the M9 gives USB audio output to an ifi nano.

Yes, I did test it by myself.
I am using the @Jan Meier Soul: http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/soul.htm
The Soul uses a Cirrus Logic WM8804 S/PDIF Digital Interface Transceiver https://www.cirrus.com/products/wm8804/ and a Cirrus Logic WM8741 24-bit, 192 kHz, Advanced D/A Converter with Advanced Digital Filtering https://www.cirrus.com/products/wm8741/

Just doesn't like the Cirrus Logic interface.

Hello Guys,
Does somebody have an expirience with connecting fiio m9 to chord mojo via coax? What cable should I use for that?
I tried fiio l16 cable but it does not work.
Thank you in advance

The 3.5 jack on the m9 isnt coax though... is it? Please correct me if I am wrong though. Or is that what changing from PO to SPDIF is supposed to be for, since it seems that the setting has no effect when using usb. If thats the case, I may see if I can dig up a cable to test with.

Why not just use usb to the mojo? Currently using usb now, and I am enjoying it, no rfi either (which was a big reason I decided to look for other daps even though I already have the poly).

From M9 user manual:
Coaxial digital output
You can choose between DOP and D2p modes. In D2P mode, DSD will Converted to PCM. In DOP
mode, it will output whatever you input (The DAC device should support DSD or there will be noise when
you play DSD in DOP mode)

I already found some variants, for example - https://www.dysonaudio.com/products...hord-mojo-75-ohm-digital-jumper-trrs-ts-3-5mm.
The reason why I am looking for coaxial Instead of usb - because coaxial connection just looks more physically reliable for long tirm use, when carrying mojo micro usb could be harmed easier

I use the coax out (spdif) with a little coax adapter that I got with another Fiio item. I use two different cables. One is Amazon basics coax digital 10ft and the other a shorter higher end cable I had for over 10 years. The DACs are the Arcam Airdac directly wired but cannot use M9 to change volume (which can be wireless and changes volume using the M9). The The other is the Shciit Modi 3 which does not let the M9 change volume so I have to do that from the amp which is a nuisance. The Schiit Modi will not produce sound using an LDAC connected M6 paired in sink mode to M9 as receiver/Sink, so the reason for the long cable for direct connection to the DAC's which gives sound.

Any chance we could get the latest Roon version - 1.6? I'm starting to worry that the limited processing power and dependence on Fiio to keep up with white listing apps is going to turn this into a white elephant pretty quickly. I like the way it sounds, but switching apps is just painfully slow.

Hi guys -

Just picked up an M9 as le petit portable. Two quick questions:

Is there any way to stop the playing after an album is played through? Right now in the Once Through playback mode when an album finishes it automatically goes onto the next album.

2) Is there a way to rename the EQs? I love that there are so many changeable/saveable options but sometimes I forget which one is for which headphone.

Thanks in advance @FiiO
Dear friend,

You could turn off the 'play through folder' function to see if it helps?
No, the EQ could not be renamed.

Best regards
